Most of the time those rumors are made up to make the pack sound like they’re a bunch of bad asses so certain wolves end up desiring the pack while others stay away. Sometimes, like the rumors of Red Fang, they end up true.

Let’s say a group of rogues attacked Crimson pack.” Nimue cackled. “Then it's confirmed. You are truly mad to think you have a chance at invading my pack” I growled. When I was at the training house, they didn’t like us allowing out wolves out as it could cause a fight between other Omegas trying to prove who was the best. Crimson was exactly as her name sake.
