I rolled my eyes and was heading towards the restroom when a sentence from Luca made me pause. “The limp is cute, by the way! Makes you look more like an actual bunny.” With a long but fond sigh, I rolled my eyes and shot him a glare before slamming the restroom door shut. ~~~ After taking a shower and dressing in warm, sunny clothes which Luca had apparently gotten while planning this entire thing, I accompanied Luca to the front of the beach, where food was being laid out on a blanket, which appeared extremely cozy. “Is that ours?” I asked, bouncing with excitement a little while watching as Luca nodded his head at me before waving the workers off who bowed respectfully to Luca and I.

Jace's expression looked sad, and Luca apologized to him, "I'm sorry. I promise not to miss any important event again. You know that I'm a staff, not like I'm the CEO of the broadcasting company I work for." I walked up to the frontage to meet Jace, and he pulled me into a hug, replying, "It's fine. We're glad to have you visit us." "Thank you," Luca said, wanting to leave, but I remembered that I had finished preparing lunch. "Come in, Bro. Come and join us for lunch before you leave," I invited Luca, still excited with the gift he bought for me. I had always wanted to buy the digital camera as I intended to launch a cooking show, but I haven't had the chance.

“Got it all out?” I groaned, nodding weakly. My face burned with embarrassment. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the man watching with his arms crossed, shaking his head. The chef’s gaze shifted to me, and he frowned. “And who’s this?” “She’s the new omega,” Luka said casually, taking out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiping my mouth. “She’ll be in charge of serving the beasts their meals.” The chef’s eyes widened. His gaze flickered between Luka and me before settling on me entirely.

Luca hummed as he looked down to her arm, a guilty look crossing his features. Luca started pulling food out, picking some things up and putting them back. “What you fancy? Full English?” He checked the cupboard, “Potatoes? Mackerel?” He checked the freezer. “Whatever this is?” He held up a roasting dish wrapped in cling film, Alissa racked her brain thinking what it could be. “Oh! Toad in the hole, that'll do.” Luca nodded and started unwrapping the dish, then got busy.

"If you're going to keep me hostage in a multi-million dollar mansion, the least you could do is get the spicy beef flavor. This brand tastes like cardboard." Lorenzo blinked. For a fraction of a second, the dangerous, unhinged mafia heir looked completely thrown off balance. He stared at me, evaluating my total lack of submission after everything that had happened. "Eat your food, Alina," Lorenzo murmured, his voice dropping back into a cold, guarded register as he turned toward the door. "Don't mistake my patience for mercy." "Tell your chef I want hot sauce next time, De Luca!" I called out to his retreating back.

He flashed me a smile and headed to the kitchen, putting on a black apron over his bare chest. "I think he just doesn't want us to die of food poisoning," I joked to Luca. "He doesn't cook all the time, does he?" "Actually, he always cooks his own meals," Luca replied, a little shy. My mouth fell open slightly. I never would have guessed that someone so rough and serious made his own food. At least, I'd never seen any man in my family go near a stove. They were all way too macho for that.

I asked. “I’ll stand between you and a firing squad for the rest of eternity,” he promised. “Careful,” I teased. “You’re starting to sound as dramatic as Luca. Is there a second crown for Drama King?” “Hey! I heard that from the bar!” Luca shouted, sounding genuinely wounded. Matteo was currently behind the marble counter, shirtless and in swim trunks, getting a crash course in high-tech culinary arts from the yacht’s chef. He looked ridiculous in a chef’s hat and nothing else.

“Do I?” “Yes. And company. Friendly company. No emotional manipulation. No trauma bonding.” “You’re weird.” “I know. Dinner?” I almost say no. But the silence in this apartment is starting to press against my chest. “Okay.” — Dinner is easy. That’s the problem. Luca talks about investors. Expansion ideas. Some meeting disaster he survived. Something about a barista secretly in love with a regular customer. I laugh at the right moments. But halfway through, I realize I haven’t heard anything he said.
