"You want to survive?" she whispered, the cold beginning to numb her limbs. "Then look at what you’re killing. I am the only reason you have a soul to protect. If I die here, you aren't a survivor. You’re just an empty machine in a graveyard." The pressure on her ribs shifted. The Beast leaned in, his metallic cloak clanking. He sniffed the air around her neck—an animalistic, possessive gesture.

she gasped. The largest wolf stepped forward. Its jaws opened. And then the pain inside her chest exploded. Not the dull ache from before. This was different. This was fire. It tore through her veins, burning under her skin, flooding her body with heat so intense she screamed. The rogues hesitated. Elara collapsed onto her side, her fingers digging into the dirt as her body began to shake violently. “What’s happening ?” she cried. Her bones cracked. The sound was loud. Sharp.

She nodded and began running. I watched her with my blurred vision. I silently prayed with the moon Goddess to guide my child to safety. My ears perked up at the rumbling noise coming from behind. I swallowed down my surging anxiety and turned around to face my death. The beast was already watching me. His sharp long canines reflected the moonlight. He was beastly. So colossal that I had to crane my neck to look at him. My face turned white as sheet. He was gaining on me. I will never forget this ghastly

The beast replied. "I don't understand. What really happened?" I asked. "Enough! Enough of the foolish questions! This is when you die! I'll make sure to remove the unknown from his position!" The beast said and leaped forward to kill me. I don't know how it happened but total darkness occurred and I couldn't see a thing. No, I didn't faint and no, I wasn't dead. I was still standing here amazed at what had happen right before my eyes. I heard a loud thud and a voice that seemed to have belonged to the beast, shouted as if in great pain.

’ Beast hissed, ‘ we are not dead. ‘ I know it’s hard to…accept. But it’s the truth. ’ I blurted. ‘ No, Striker. ’ He denied it. The unvoluntarily movement started once more. I was being carried away by Beast, to Goddess knows where. At this point, I didn’t even want to look at anything, but only feel what it was like for Beast to finally have what he craved all his miserable life with me. He was happy. I could feel it. It was the one good thing about being dead.

Aurelia accepted death as part of their mission, should she die it would be without regrets. The beast closed in on them, and a few feet separated the two from their adversaries. It doesn’t kill him, but paralyzes him. Once he’s completely immobilized, I crouch in front of him, and I notice him visibly flinching as he meets the Beast’s eye. Only few have survived the Beast, but not for long enough to tell the tale. He continues whimpering, most likely in pain, but I pay no heed to it
