He muttered and I frowned in confusion. She just makes you— The clanging sound of a loud bell suddenly filled the air now and it was like the world around took a pause as all the growling stopped. .. But then it continued. The pause was momentary as the Ferals all around us started growling again. However, this time, the growling seemed to be going away from us and not towards us. The bell continued clanging from a distance and it seemed to be coming from the old bell house… and it seemed to be calling the Ferals as they were no longer slamming against the wooden door now.

Dorian said, his voice low and dangerous, “then you are indeed blinder than I thought.” Adolphus opened his mouth to respond, but before he could, a sharp, resonating sound pierced the room. Ding. Ding. Ding. The warning bell echoed through the hall, its urgency cutting through the heavy tension like a knife. Everyone froze, the gravity of the sound sinking in instantly. Ulva’s sapphire eyes widened, and she instinctively reached for Adolphus’s arm. “What is that?” Irwin asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Dorian’s posture straightened, his golden eyes narrowing as he focused on the distant chime. “The warning bell,” he said grimly.

Celeste had barely stepped out into the cool corridor when the pack bell rang . The sound cut through the night like a blade. Not the frantic, uneven toll of danger. Not the urgent call that sent warriors running toward the gates. This one was slower and formal. Celeste stopped where she was, the echo of the bell vibrating through the stone walls. For a moment she thought her heart might stop entirely. Her chest still felt tight from the conversation she had just walked away from, and the sound of that bell made a terrible thought settle in her mind.

Thomas yelled as she ran by them. I rushed inside to see Casey jogging up the stairs with Mindy as the bell continued to ring. Our bell system was awesome.
