I hissed, heart still trying to punch through my ribs. “I’m Bells. Jax sent me, Your Highness.” The name hit me. Jax. Three days. The signal. Everything crashed back at once. “Prove it,” I whispered. I had already bought a large property and the house I had been building was almost done so that I and Bell could move out of this small apartment and into the one I had been working hard in preparing. Bell had texted me that she would be at the restaurant we were to have dinner since she had so many appointments today. I heard my phone beep to see that it a message from Bell. I'm here. See you soon angel. I went back to hide and just then when Bell stepped in, the lights went off. I casted a fire spell that lit all the candles that encircled the restaurant before lights glimmered and guitar was heard from the background. I decided to step out after seeing her reaction of joy.

The words felt hollow. Nothing about this situation felt right or comfortable, no matter how nice the dress or food was. The maid paused at the door, her hand resting on the doorknob. She glanced back at me, her expression soft but distant. “My name is Bell,” she said quietly. I opened my mouth to say something, but no words came. She gave me a small nod and turned, stepping out of the room. The door clicked shut behind her, and I heard the unmistakable sound of the lock turning.

The order in my head didn’t let me sleep. I lay stiff in bed, staring at the ceiling. My chest rose and fell too fast, lungs refusing to slow. Outside, the howls came in waves, circling closer, pulling something deep inside me tighter and tighter. And then, the bell rang. Not the morning kind. Not the deep underwater chime. This was sharp. Urgent. Final. The dorm doors rattled as footsteps thundered down the hall. A voice carried, clipped and strict.

Bells is cut short by the old woman who clears her throat like she is trying to make a speech while giving her a stern look to which Bells melts at. They have communicated. I know it. Though they didn't speak to each other verbally, I know that they already communicated. Then, Bells turns to me. She's expressionless as she speaks to me, but I do not mind. "Alright. When will you be free?" "Tuesday unfailingly." I reply to her. "Alright, till then." She says it like she's closing a business deal before she walks further I to the library.
