I hate myself for not doing anything but watching my brothers mess her up. Well I know it is in the past and I like that I have gotten the chance to do what I couldn't do for her and with her. This 'two weeks' is my lucky chance. The cigarette is all in ashes now, I let the ashes disappear to the ground and walk away. I can already hear the music, screaming and chanting from downstairs before I reach the staircase. As usual, the entire seniors would show up for the night party. Everyone knows that November 19th is the Quad's birthday, they save it in their head as though it is automatic.

I don’t know much about Kai, but I know that his parents live here in this pack; he takes time to pay them a visit. “Any more party invitations?” I ask, my body leaning on the chair. I am feeling giddy, the past me hates parties- still do. But, parties have become a lame excuse to see him again. “There’s a party right here in the country, you don’t have to travel out. It’s happening in the pack close to our border.” “The neighboring pack?” “The pack after our neighboring pack.” He does not meet my eyes for a while. “It’s a pool party.”

But scratch that, I won’t let him take that hold over me. “What party anyway?” I ask. She starts. “It’s Friday. Jason from the football team always throws a party at his place —” I raise an eyebrow. “Jason’s Kai’s friend. You know that, right?” “Oh, we can hit another party then,” she says. “Might not be a college thing. Since Blake’s place is a no go, thanks to his damn cousin, we can still have fun before your parents get back on Sunday.” I nod. Partying’s a solid distraction. Music. Drinks. Perfect. Something even better pops into my head, something that might actually pull me out of this mess.

"I'm not going to sugarcoat shit to make you feel better, cuz. You are into this Sebastian dude. It's just that you are in denial." I scoffed, standing up before smacking him with the cushion. "You suck." Quinton laughed. "Eventually, you'll agree with me." “Whatever,” I muttered, making my way to the kitchen. My chest felt tight, like something was lodged there that wouldn’t move no matter how much I pretended it wasn’t. Quinton didn't know what the hell he was talking about. I wasn’t into Sebastian. I couldn't be. "There's a party down at 5th block tonight. You going with us." he said on the other side of the wall.

"Perfect. Get dressed." The party was at a house three blocks off campus. Someone from the music department lived there, which meant the playlist was actually good and the crowd was different from the usual Westbridge football scene, art students, journalism majors, a handful of people Ariana recognized from the photography lab. The kind of party where people actually talked instead of performed.

If Darlington wasn’t going to let go of his mood, then I’d drag him out of it. Literally. He was still in the study when I walked in. “Get dressed,” I said, tossing a blazer on his lap. “For what?” “We’re going to that party.” He looked up. “What party" "it's just newly reopened,it's like a club but it specializes in soda and alcohol of different kinds" "Are you still doing this to get back at Shawn" he asked closing his laptop. I smiled then sighed. “It isn't directly at him. it's just You don’t want him thinking we stayed home to sulk, do you?”

I always bent to his will because I believed he was my mate but what the heck…. I gave Blue a sad smile, “I am happy that I was able to pick myself up from the ground.” She gave me a slight nod before turning to the bed. “We are going mysterious baddies today….” She threw me a short black shirt. I giggled, “I guess we are….” *********************************** The party was in full blast. It was held in the biggest club in town and it was free entry but bring a drink. I guess that's one way to spend a big pay out but this was part of the plan though.

"Thank you, Pappa." "Alright, alright let's get to work." With that my father turned shaking his head, but not before I saw the smile on his face. The day passed by smoothly, with the regulars coming in and out. Everyone was looking forward to the annual block party that would take place this evening. My parents always hosted and generally it was the event of the year. I had seen all the decorations being put up for the last four days. This year was not going to be any different. The firework display was always my favorite part.

I roll my eyes and he grips my hand, pulling me towards the packhouse. I was able to talk Alpha into having a more barbecue type style party rather than some extravagant affair. So the party was being held outside with food being cooked on grills, lots of lemonade and tea as well as pies. It was a communal type of gathering that made the pack feel more relaxed. More like a family. I smiled at the sight of some of the children trying to fly a kite. There was a makeshift football game going on with some of the highschoolers and Micah grinned.

I never heard Seth or Don sing, but I'm pretty sure they sing too. My sister was no longer angry and smiling as she enjoyed her man's singing. Then, they started making out in front of me, making my whole body heat up. She forgot about the whole lecture. It was my cue to leave. While Rex spun her lightly and not forcefully to get her nauseous, I tip-toed my way out of the room and left the room. I opened the front door, and house music rampaged the street. It was the Annual Halloween Block Party. The first time of the year.
