He didn’t get back up. Across the field, Blue was engaged in her own deadly battle. A rogue had pinned her down, snapping his jaws dangerously close to her throat. But Blue was ruthless. She used her legs to shove him off and rolled on top of him. Before he could react, she sank her fangs into his throat, tearing out his jugular. His body jerked violently for a moment before going still. The fight wasn’t slowing down. More wolves were coming at us, wave after wave. I turned just in time to see a massive black rogue charging toward me, his eyes were locked onto mine. He was bigger than most of the others, his muscles rippling beneath his dark fur.

It was a blue I’d never seen before, dark as the sea and they were suddenly fixed directly on me. For several seconds we found ourselves staring at each other. She seemed to be holding her breath and I realised I was too. I did not recognise or know anything about her, but my wolf, Kohl, howled within for me to say something. /Take her. Take the blue-eyed one/ he hissed urgently in my mind. “Pick or leave it Mr Inferno,” Denton groaned, “I’ll be taking two if you don’t just so you know.” I was still so angry at my wolf for taking control of my body in the fight again I was tempted not to pick anyone just to spite him.

Not fear of death or being caught but he looked a bit more nervous than actually scared. As if he already knows what’s happening but won’t say a thing about it… won’t confess. “Is there something you’re not telling us?” Blue paused and then bared his teeth, almost transforming into his wolf. His silver wolf was bigger than mine, almost as big as Ahbaya’s wolf. Blue laid low and growled again.

It was the first time during this battle I smiled. He sure knew how to make an entrance.
