The seal-like mark on her palm was still faintly glowing. FLICKER! Suddenly, the lights in the room began to flicker again. It was terrifying for those in the room, especially the fish tanks containing the grotesque half-human, half-aquatic test subjects. The sight was always revolting. The temperature started to drop, and they began to shiver. The shadows of the strange creatures became more distorted and terrifying in this situation. FLICKER! BANG! All the lights went out. The room was so dark they couldn't see anything. Then, a large gust of wind seemed to sweep past them, making them stagger.

The water continued to pour down, soothing her body but failing to calm her racing mind. The lights then continued to flicker faster and with more intensity, casting eerie shadows behind the shower curtain. Sunny's heart started to race, her breath quickening as she felt a chill run down her spine. The flickering lights seemed to be synchronized with her own growing sense of unease. Was it a warning? Sunny jumped out of the shower, frightened, as she grabbed a towel to wrap around her wet body. She slowly walked out of the bathroom, but she saw nothing, and when she walked back into the bathroom, the lights were no longer flickering. Light flickers in my right eye, along with a searing pain to my right abdomen, while my left eye stretches with darkness, the left half of my body completely numb, and void. Every fibre screams in my body as I lift my hand, rubbing it on my left side. The sting burst, leaking out the memories like an angry dam. The bike. The hospital. Lucian, Aria… he. The pain cracked again… Natasha. Aunty shot me. She looked beautiful, except she hated me. The flashes got faster and faster before they added flashes of different disasters, both manmade, supernatural, and natural. I fight it as much as I can, but the flashing is starting to drive me insane and allowing the wildness within me to surface and take control. I don’t know how long I was within that flashing room when it suddenly stopped and the small door opened. I felt that sting in the back of my neck and the familiar burning before I passed out.

I pressed both hands over my mouth to keep it in, but it poured out, broken. Tears burned hot down my new cheeks. I rolled on the floor, arms wrapped around myself, trying to hold the pieces together. Why am I here? Why this body? Why not my own? Something crawled under my skin. It didn’t seem like muscle, or blood. It was power. It crawled like ants, prickling, pushing, wanting to get out. Next, my palms sparked with violet light and I gasped, jerking them apart. The light dimmed, but the feeling stayed.

Her fingers felt like popsicle sticks. She swung her legs over with help from her arms until her bare feet touched the cold floor. That's when she saw her expanded stomach. It wasn't huge, but it definitely wasn't as slim as usual. Her memory felt fuzzy, but she remembered it was Jack's. Maybe that was why she was here. They were experimenting on her. She flicked a purple flame into her palm and smiled weakly. Something about purple fire triggered some more memories. A lot of them were of Jimmy, of all people. She shook her head. She didn't have time for this. Someone would find her and knock her out again if she didn't get out of here.

The maid seemed to understand her silence because they never made a noise since then. While lying there, thinking about random things, her hand jerked. “Here we go again!” she murmured once her system sent an electric shot that made her stand upright. It’s almost noon, and she realize now that her body wasn’t her own, so she had to accept that she will have an instinct to do something her mind couldn’t comprehend.

Her body goes utterly still. Then it starts to tremble. Not the tremble of pleasure. This is a violent, full-body shudder. Her eyes fly open, but they’re not seeing me. They’re blank. Distant. Fixed on some horror only she can see. The color drains from her face, leaving her chalk-white.

I sat where he guided me, still and focused, a reminder of the control that I couldn’t grasp. “Tell me if you notice anything at all,” he added. I nodded. There was a pause. Then… something… faint. Barely there. Like a flicker behind my eyes. I stiffened. “What was that?” I said immediately. “What did you notice?” the doctor asked. “I…” I frowned. “It was… light. It flickered behind my eyes, a little light. It wasn’t clear or defined… I don’t know how to explain it. But it was there for a second before it was gone.”
