I already finished reading “The Maze Runner”. I decided to read it and went to the garden.

To the naked eye, the maze is only a massive unsolvable puzzle of overgrown hedges and vines that sits behind the Night Court, standing hauntingly in a shade of endless shadow, despite the brightness of even the brightest day, but in truth, it is far more. For it was cursed in the age of the EverNight, in the days of Criston the Cruel. To keep within it monsters, those that could not be sent away when the sun returned. I watch all this through the high window of the study, Alchest perched on my shoulder, eyes set on the shadow creature that writhes in and finally disappears into the embrace of the maze, joining the others. It is the first of mine, I note, as the breeze flows by.

“I’ve walked this maze many times. Never noticed that door before….” Selene’s voice alerted me of her arrival. I was almost distracted enough by the door to miss the fact that we were both completely naked, almost. Goddess, she was spectacular. ’ I turned to the door marked by the tree, its roots etched into the wood like veins. ‘Patience shapes mountains,’ I thought. I touched the door, and it opened, revealing the next stage. The air was unnervingly still as I moved deeper into the maze. The faint hum of magic from before was gone, replaced by an eerie silence that made every step I took sound impossibly loud. The walls shifted slightly, as if the maze itself was quietly working against me, ensuring I didn't pass this floor’s test. ‘Keep moving,’ Naila urged, her voice calm but firm.

And now, I would be alone to fight through another battle, navigate another maze that I had no clue, no map, and no directions to follow. Heat crawled up my back slowly, sparring with my palpitations. I wasn’t sure if it was the room, or me. Black fuzz tunneled my vision, the cold tiles felt like ice licking my skin as my knees dropped to them. I tried to cling on to the sink, but the heavy depths I was falling into were too strong, the gravity pulling me by the waist. I sunk to the floor, allowing the contrasting temperature to soothe my burning skin. “Dios mío!” (Oh my God!) a voice carried through the cracks of my mind.

- I told him. He nodded and pulled several books out from one of the stacks and set them in front of me. I opened the top book and ran my fingers over the runes in the title. It was beautifully written as if each word was drawn with love and attention to detail. Now that I looked at it, it reminded me of a combination of Norse and Old English. Nerrian pulled his chair closer and pointed to the first word, speaking it in my mind than out loud in Draygonian. With his help, I repeated the word over and over again until I perfected it.

I’d have gladly walked into its yawning gullet at that moment. “It’s a very interesting book, Doon,” continued Maurice. “It’s the story of Muad’Dib, the mouse that hides from the sun and travels in the cool night.” “Sounds a bit boring,” said Flossie. “Do you think we could delay this week’s Book Club until we get out of this mess?” I requested in my most reasonable voice. Stay calm, wait for first light, and then make our way back to the lake, possibly to drown myself and get it all over with. “Just keep quiet and don’t make any sudden movements.”

"Maze is a specialist who builds places that are hard to access or escape," I told Frank. "Ha, Maze. I get it now," Frank nodded thoughtfully, clearly impressed. Her name was a pun on what she did for a living. The elevator door slid open and the three of us entered.

As she’s about to leave the room, someone called. “Hey, I’m leaving the hotel. My car service is waiting,” she talked to the person on the other line. “I can’t wait to see you here. We’ve so much to see and talk about,” Noah said. Cela gave her room one final look. This is the place where she leaves her old self. “We wanted to go to a specific place and it didn’t matter if the road was rough and the journey was long. In the end, we found different places for ourselves but these places were the destinations where we were truly meant to go,” she said to herself. The fourth book begins at chapter 1 in Paris. My stomach lurched violently. "Let's keep moving," I gritted out, turning away from the horrific sight and toward another archway on the far side of the courtyard. The maze punished us for our choice. We encountered a staircase that looped back on itself no matter which direction we climbed. A bridge that extended further the more we walked across it. A room filled with identical doors, each leading to a different point in the maze we'd already passed. At one point, we found Mara kneeling over Lissa's unconscious form near a patch of suspiciously red mushrooms.
