I nodded slowly, realizing what his answer truly meant: the Living Book wasn't here. Whether he didn’t trust me, or the danger was too great to carry it along, I didn’t know. But I stopped searching. Instead, I buried myself in the small cube Zevarion had gifted me, fingers working it restlessly as I tried to anchor my thoughts in the memory of his warmth, his arms, his voice. Each night grew colder. Each morning, darker. And then, on the eleventh day, just as the book had warned, we reached it. The horses slowed, snorting uneasily. Even the wind stilled, as though the very earth held its breath.

It smelled of rank B&O and stale fries. When he got to his feet, he was a little dizzy, but that wasn’t going to stop him. He had found some old books and a few blades stain with what looked like blood. He started digging around on the desk hoping to find something, but he didn’t know what. That is when he came across an old leather-bound book with strange writing across it. He saw the pictures of a crystal cross that had emeralds lined down the middle. Well, that helped Thomas understand why the cross ended up being very important but why did he have a piece of it?

“He is.” Mrs. Abernathy placed a comforting hand on mine, giving it a gentle squeeze. “Everything will be okay, dear.” I managed a smile. “Thank you, Mrs. Abernathy.” With croissants in hand and a little less pain in my heart, I continued toward the town’s center. The library, which had once stood tall and grand in the town square, was now a sad pile of burnt rubble and ash. Villagers were working tirelessly, picking up charred pieces of wood and tossing them into carts.

"You have nowhere to run. The mountain is surrounded." "He’s right, Brother," Jian’s voice came from the slope. He had descended halfway, the rifle slung over his shoulder, a heavy, silver-bound book held in his hand like a holy relic. The "Seventh Ledger." Jian looked at the scene with a chilling, detached amusement. "The Londoners have a perimeter. They have the valley blocked. You think a magnesium flare is enough to save a dying line?"

One by one, their lights faded from the display. Not failures. Farewells. Ama watched quietly. Another chapter ending. Another responsibility finally laid down. The book on the desk suddenly rustled. A page turned. Then another. Then another. The remaining blank pages flipped gently in the breeze. Until the book reached its final section. A single folded page. Different from the others. Sealed. Arthur noticed immediately. “Was that there before?” “No,” Naomi whispered. It hadn't been. Or perhaps it had. Waiting.

said Jette. “Peace?” asked Brent. Jette accepted the apology and they shook hands. *** When Jette arrived home, she immediately examined if the comb has hair strands. It has!!! She inserted those hairs on the pages of the book, and a flame starts from the bottom, until the midway, and the book was burned half. She’s so happy!!! She immediately called Crisanta. “Miss, I have burned the book on its halfway,” said Jette. “Nice. The second rule can be found on the burned part,” Crisanta said.

Distant shapes moving through the treeline. Wolves. Dozens of them. And at the front, a woman in crimson. Her red eyes glowed in the darkness. Ravenna. She'd brought an army. --- **End of Chapter 7**
