I didn't need to think twice as I ran out, tagging closely behind him. It was already dark outside but I was so grateful for the little light that pitched in through the cracks on the wall. I take a deep breath, and the air seems sweeter, fresher. I blink repeatedly, letting my eyes adjust to the gentle glow from the moon. It's not harsh or overwhelming, it's just right. As I look back, I feel like the dungeon isn't as frightening in the light. The shadows that seemed to move and twist in the darkness now seem like mere projections of my own fears. The light chases them away, and I feel a sense of peace settle over me.

"Magic is about connection. You can't manipulate something if you don't understand it first. So understand shadow. What is it? What does it feel like? How does it move?" This felt like the kind of philosophical nonsense that would've gotten her smacked by Griselda for wasting time. But Winter tried anyway, watching the shadows the way she might watch clouds or water. They weren't static, she realized. The torch flickered, and every shadow adjusted in response. Growing longer, shorter, darker, lighter. An endless subtle dance. Olanna carried the palm oil lamp which she had bought from the market the previous day after a peaceful bargain with a short woman, whose accent was as strange as her hair. The lamp gave a poor glow and illuminated a small area of the path which they covered. The deeper they went, the fewer people they met on their way. They kept on walking until the lamp, which Olanna held in her hands, gave up with a slow hissing sound. “What are we going to do now?” Olanna asked.

I arrive at the mountain just as the sun starts to set. The darkness of the cave terrifies me. Pulling out the light crystal, I entered the cave. The darkness seems to swallow the light because I still cannot see in front of my face. The darkness seems to pulse. All the light from the crystal appears to be absorbed. The deeper I go into the cave, the dimmer the crystal becomes. It isn’t long before it stops illuminating.

I said. "Actually, you just haven't realized it yet. Darkness has its own beauty." I look at Ozgur because I understand the meaning of those words, and I agree with his opinion. "Yes, darkness is beautiful." If the darkness is Ozgur, then the darkness is the sparkling light that I gets used to over time. That's right, the longer it is in the dark, the eyes will get used to seeing. And maybe, when the white light comes, it feels like these eyes will not be as comfortable as when they are in the dark.

I allowed those words to float in the air, wondering what lay beneath the surface of this complicated man. The room glowed with a gentle, amber light as the sun started to sink below the horizon, enveloping us in a cozy and intimate ambiance. The walls came alive with a mesmerizing display of shadows, gracefully pirouetting in a captivating ballet of contrasting hues. It was as if these intricate patterns of light and dark mirrored the complexities of our connection. As the sun went down and long shadows filled the room, I couldn't help but feel like our journey had just begun. There was a spark of something beautiful in the middle of uncertainty and secrets.

Prologue When I was a child, I enjoyed listening to my mother's stories. Portraying the never-ending struggle between darkness and light. I nodded, unsure where she was going with this. ‘We can do the same with our light. Instead of utilizing the shadows, we utilize the light around us. By allowing our light to flood over our skin, it will attach to light beams. Foc

I glanced over at Dean, and he had his brows furrowed, his concentration completely on the painting and me. "I see it," he said, his voice quiet as he stepped toward the painting. "See how the light and the dark interact? Without the light shining here, the dark wouldn't look so deep. The sun shining on her, making her a silhouette, in addition to her stance, is what makes her feel so strong. She is in the light despite the oncoming darkness. It is the way the two interact that make it powerful, the way the painter used the light to detail the shadows."
