Later that evening, I went to the town library and used a public computer to search anything tied to my past contacts. Nothing showed up. Then I saw an article. “Lycan Wolf Spirit Officially Marked Lost” My throat tightened. I clicked the link. The article said Lycan had disappeared from his pack. No one knew where he was. Some believed he lost his purpose after walking away from me. “No,” I whispered. “I did that…” My phone buzzed again. Another message: “You stole more than a wolf. Time to return what you broke.” I felt like screaming.

"A broken wolf. One whose bond has been severed but didn't fade. They go mad. They live in the wild places between territories. They feel the hole where their pack was every second. It makes them… vicious." Another howl, closer this time. Then, the sound of something big moving fast through the underbrush, coming right for us. "We're in its hunting ground," Rhydian said. I wanted to scoop him into my arms and beg for forgiveness. I wanted to fix it, but I didn't know how. He looked so broken as he bared his neck in fear. “I'm sorry,” I whispered as I brought my hand to his face, wanting to fix what Max and I did. I felt sick to my stomach when he flinched as if I was going to hit him. I swallowed the lump in my throat, hating myself and my wolf.

Damian locked himself in his study, never leaving its confines. He had completely abandoned all resistance. Day after day, night after night, he drowned himself in liquor. Cheating and terminating a pregnancy were scandals, but losing a wolf was a devastating injury for a werewolf.

He just listened. "They told me I was worthless. That I was nothing but a wolf bitch who deserved everything they were doing to me. They said my husband didn't want me and my pack didn't miss me and no one was coming to save me and after a while I started to believe them." I said. "That's what they wanted, they wanted to break you down until you have nothing left." He said. "Yeah and it worked for a while. But the worst part wasn't the physical pain. It was what they did to my wolf." I said.

“When the bond snapped now. Did you feel it too?" His face went white. "What?" "The mate bond," I said. "It is gone. I broke it." “Not at all,” he quickly said, shaking his head. "No, that is impossible. Bonds cannot be broken. They can be damaged but not…” “I broke it,” I repeated emphatically. “My wolf wanted freedom more than it wanted you. She ripped that to shreds, devoured it piece by piece until it was gone.”

I was born broken." My eyes widen. I place my hand where her heart is. "You were never broken. A wolf is amazing, but the wolf is nothing without the person it's connected to. It's what's inside of you that counts. That is what makes a good wolf. So, even if someone has a wolf, it doesn't mean they are better than you or unbroken."

( Charlotte’s POV) I was lost for words. I can't believe it. I don't even know what to utter. Maddox isn't a Hybrid. He's still a werewolf. He's a different classification of one. The Broken/Broken Werewolves are powerful. One Broken can destroy a living army of soldiers, without getting hurt badly. They are like Lycans, but it takes two to kill one Broken. They kill authorities, even those from the committee. The Broken were bitten by past punished werewolves, meaning all of them are extinct but one seems to be alive.

Anaki had always wanted to hear about Moon and Kurgi's 'sin against nature' for a long time. "You and Rex's beta would get along just fine with the braicell between the two of you.!" Kit chuckled, making Rex smile, thinking of him. "Only 3 wolves in Creation have dared to go against Nature, committing the most forbidden law, 'Wolves are born...not turned'.
