The Challenge Novels & Stories

"How's it going, sis? Been meaning to check in on you." I update him, "School, work, same old, same old," before lowering my voice and adding, "challenge." "Wait, did you just say 'challenge'?" he asks, seeking confirmation. When I don't respond, he follows up with, "Damn, how bad is it this time?" "There's nothing I can't handle, but you know the rule: no details until the challenge is over. But, between us, let's just say this one's a bit trickier than the others."

Tor had a grin on his face. “You two both shake hands.” Tor offered a handshake first. “Good luck, girl.” “You, too.” Her voice was lacking confidence, but I knew she could win this. Lyon got in the middle. “This challenge has no time limit. You only have three submissions to allow yourselves to take a ten-second break.” “Got it,” Shadow said. “Did she really get it?” Duke asked me. “I bet my twenty for her. She has to win the challenge.” “Okay, ready?” Lyon asked.

The events of yesterday replayed in my mind, causing an army of goosebumps to erupt on my skin. He cleared his throat before plastering his signature smile on his devilishly handsome face. "Good morning, my beautiful ladies, I am sure that after yesterday’s challenge, you are all on your toes. But today, I promise we will be doing something less extreme. Today’s challenge will be something simple: You are to prepare a meal for my parents and me. Whoever has the tastiest food and the highest points wins. Simple right?" He asked, and there was a long pause.

The moon, her silent witness, cast its approving light upon her efforts. The words of her family echoed in her mind, a steady anchor amidst the storm of emotions. He had encouraged her, motivated her, and instilled within her the belief that she could conquer any challenge. His voice whispered that this was just another test—one of many that she would face on her journey.

I doubted it, though. Laterza, the freshman, and his friends stayed back and watched the challenge. I didn’t know if he had put a crew together yet but with his last name, it wouldn’t surprise me. It was going to be an excellent year if I could stay in school. “Friday night,” said Matteo. He couldn’t get out of this. Challenges were bare-knuckled fights and lasted until someone surrendered or was unconscious. We had to have a teacher present. Arranging the teacher was now on Matteo as the challenged.

I didn’t know how to respond to that. “I would also like to be clear that the week leading to the Challenge is not for sleeping in and small talk. If you wish to win then be punctual and continue your practice. Whatever you require will be provided.” The jibe was unnecessary.. I bit the insides of my cheek to hold back a scathing retort, because this was not Ravenwood or Crescentville. I won’t be treated like a princess here but like any other participant. So instead, I replied, “Yes. I apologise once again. I will keep this in mind.”

The heftiest of the council members spoke in a soldier-like manner. We got set and my wolf prepared as well. “There are no rules in this challenge! The first one to return with the head of his given leader shall win the challenge! The deadline is four hours from now! Failure to return with or without the head will lead to disqualification! Get set!” I sighed as we crouched to the floor. I made calculations in my head, contemplating the fastest routes to Southpaw. “Ready!!” The air went still and a wave of adrenaline hit me like a tornado, preparing me for the moment.

Now I hear not only Micheal behind me, but Ansel, and Julian as well. Julian may be new to the group, but he is also upset at a man challenging a woman half his size. But I don't mind, because if I loose it won't matter to me much, since I am a girl, and half his size. However if I win... He would never be able to live it down. My eyes narrow on Chad. "Alright." I say. "I accept your challenge. Standard council challenge rules." I tell him.

They were about San Fetillo organizing a sports tournament. The cogs in her mind began moving. Since there was a sports tournament, a bid would definitely be held as well. Edric would certainly participate, and she would not let him achieve his goal. The only opponent who could defeat Edric was the Golden Age Group. She hurried out of the house with her bag in hand to meet Jordan.

Which was definitely not informed to us but still we have to do it right away. "The next challenge is one of endurance. No water. No rest. You shall defend your ground as shadow beasts attack in waves." Theodore states and the challenge immeditely begins. During the challenge, my arms burn, legs shake, lungs scream. I manage to stand my ground the longest until the horn finally sounds. Liam catches me before I hit the ground. “I’ve got you,” he whispers. Another one is eliminated. I see the sun sets just as we are ordered to clean up for the rest of the day.
