I leaped onto a broken column, let Gref seep under my skin, and pounced on Hall with my claws ready. He blocked my strike with his arm; his skin split open and bled black. That was all I needed to know that Hall wasn’t Hall. “You look desperate, Dark Alpha,” he said, baring his teeth. “Are you that afraid I’ll take what should always have been mine?”

DIANA “No... no, this has to be a mistake!” Lisa screamed. She started shaking her head violently, her eyes wide with terror as she looked at the scroll in mother’s trembling hands. “What is the Supreme King thinking? Out of all the princes, why him? Why the Dark Prince?!” She grabbed my hands, her fingers digging deep into my skin.“Diana, he has killed every single woman that has ever gone close to him! Everyone knows it! “Forgive me, darling…forgive me for failing you.” More than anything, I wanted to tell him he hadn’t failed me. I wanted to beg him to act while he could, to use the darkness he commanded to end my life, but I knew he wouldn’t. Dain saw murder, while I saw my freedom.
