Her mother and father have always brought her different kinds of strange gifts whenever it was her birthday. She never understood why they would give her such. But, she always appreciated the gifts. However, she has always left with a turbulent spirit afterward. On her 18th birthday, her mother gave her a golden image of the supposed devil. It was so bright and beautiful that it lit up a room, the moment it came into contact with her. She was confused by this incident and she never found the answer as to why the image of the devil was given to her and why it lit up upon coming in contact with her.

she whispered — soft, but sharp as a knife. With trembling fingers, Argan slid the ring onto her finger. Applause erupted across the hall. But in that moment, Argan knew — his smile was not happiness. It was a mask. --- Outside the venue, rain began to fall softly. A woman stood in the shadow beside a black car — Devia. She watched from afar, her gaze fixed on the shining ring on the woman’s finger — the same woman who had destroyed her home. Her tears fell, but not for love anymore.

I held the mother fucker ring in my hand and thought it must be the tricks from the fucking two reptile heads. "Are you fucking doing a trick on the ring?!" I roared. They covered their heads and exclaimed, "No, sir!" "I swear I didn't do it!" "We can't change the size of an object! That's not something that we can do!" The priest says and I clear my throat. “I devote myself to you and with this ring, I bind my soul to yours, now and forever." I say, stretching my hand to the velvet cushion to pick the ring. At the center stone is a rare pink diamond but it was the band that can steal one’s breath. Delicate green vines, crafted with such lifelike detail, encircled the diamond.

Both Blake, Tabitha, and Tabby yelled. “Ha, ha, ha. I had to, and it was only the perfect opportunity.” Gerold burst out laughing. “You old fool. Could you get serious and tell us what the ring does beside’s looking beautiful?” Blake asked, annoyed by Gerold’s joke. “The ring is a catalyst for Tabby to enter the real world and not dissipate into nothing. She can come out of the ring for a limited time until she has to return to recharge her soul. This way, She can be with her sister, but that doesn’t stop you from practicing what I taught you the more vital your soul, the longer you can stay out of the ring.” Gerold explained after his laughter ended.

“What did you see?” I couldn’t speak right away. My heart pounded so loudly I could barely hear anything else. The image of the ring—silver, ancient, powerful—burned behind my eyelids. “My mother…” my voice cracked. “She gave the book and a ring to someone. She begged them to hide it.” Della’s face paled slightly, but she hid it well. “What kind of ring?” I closed her eyes, trying to recall every detail. “Silver… engraved with symbols, ancient ones. I don’t know what they mean.”

Was it dirty? The questions did not want to die down, but a new flood of questions kept coming up. It was as if his head were being flooded with things he had no answer to. The ring on his finger seemed to be leading the young priest, almost pulling it. Even if he tried to stop, he was sure the ring would ruthlessly pull him on. When they finally finished, many of them were breathing hard, faces red, muscles burning. “Get up,” Vito ordered. They stood quickly, some of them swaying slightly. “Divide yourselves into groups of ten,” Vito continued. “Take numbers. Groups go into the ring one by one. Fight until only one man is standing. Anyone who gets defeated comes down and does another two thousand push-ups. Winners of each group will fight each other. The final winner fights me.” The men exchanged uneasy glances. Fighting each other was one thing. Fighting Vito was something else entirely. They had all seen what happened to people who stepped into the ring with him.
