Silas readjusted in his seat, his gaze piercing through the two girls kneeling before him. “I smell insincerity, Audrey. I can tell when a wolf isn’t telling the truth. So speak—I'll get the truth out of you, either by your words or by torture.” Audrey shuddered at the prince's intimidating tone. Her lips quivered as she tried to speak, but no words came out. Finally, she broke down in tears.
“It wasn’t my fault. I was sent. I’m scared, my prince, please don’t make me say it,” Audrey sobbed, shaking violently.
