She could hear more screaming but she still kept her eyes on the boss as he seemed to contemplate her words. From her peripheral vision, she saw her mother clutching the boss's legs as he nodded to the man holding her brother to let go. Her brother ran towards her. But before he could reach her, one of the men standing closer to her pushed her brother and grabbed hold of her. Her mother began to sound hysterical now and let go of his legs to reach her. She grabbed her hands but Eloisa could not feel any warmth as if she was numb to everything

I'm sure she was one of his toys, and now, she thought she had some pull over us. Chase smiled mischievously at the woman, earning a growl from both River and me this time. 'No games!' I warned him in our mind link. 'Life is no fun without games, brothers.' Chase wittily replied. I was seconds from strangling him. "Katherine, it's so good to see your adorable face again. I take it you have a full report for me?" He asked her.

You're going to come off as the pervert you are if you keep staring. I turned on the controller, trying to focus on the screen as the game loaded, but it was completely impossible. Chase was a jock, a 6'4 campus celebrity who was completely unbothered by his own body. He had no idea that his best friend was currently having a psychological meltdown next to him. We started the first match. Usually, I was the one trash-talking and winning, but tonight my reflexes were entirely gone. "Bro, what are you doing?" "I can go wherever I like, you know!" Chase remained silent, wondering why he felt the need to be so harsh to her in order to get her moving. He discovered that he enjoyed debating with her. "How about some sort of game?" she asked with a smile. "Fancy some challenges?" He saw how her eyes sparkled. This woman exudes happiness. "What kind of game?" he asked, though his imagination was completely out of this world. Nothing but sex and steamy moments with this amazing woman... "Truth or Dare."

My feelings have overflowed and he had changed. Norman stood up, "Chase! Where is the game room you told me about? Let's us go and try it out." Happiness surged through me at my brother's sentence. I had been off games for far too long. Besides, it could act as a medium to soften the awkwardness oozing off me. Chase took us to the huge game room in his mansion. Expensive and high end equipment decorated the room. He powered the gigantic monitor occupying the center position and handed out two consoles to I and Norman. Chase brought out his laptop instead.

“That’s the finish line. The guest house. Get there before I catch you. You get a ten-minute head start. This is insane. Probably the most insane thing I’ve ever done in my entire life. A game of chase in the dark? It feels childish and terrifying all at once. But there’s no denying the traitorous feeling of excitement that blooms in the pits of my stomach at the thought of Silvan chasing me through the darkness. It’s settled. I have gone completely psycho. “And if you catch me?” I ask, my voice barely a whisper. The look he gives me burns like pure, unadulterated fire. “If I catch you, you lose the game. However, if you win, you will advance to the last and final round.”

XIMENA POV— “Why is this cursed being here?” “She brings bad omen—“ Not the harsh words of people stopped me from running, the scent I was tracing growing thicker with each second that passed. I made my way to the market where hundreds of people were, and like one in trance, I began pushing my way through the crowd, I heard lots of people curse at me. It felt like there was this great prize which the crowd surrounded and the prize was mine. The feeling was bigger than winning a million gold coins, it was better.

I spoke coldly. “Why are you pretending that you don't know about all this? Just so you know, I am a master game player and I will do all it takes to have Caleb to myself.” She said with widened eyes. I hissed and pointed to the door, indicating she should get out of the car. She understood. Shaking her head, she reluctantly got out of the car. I couldn't help but think of what Caleb liked in her. She was just a desperate bitch maybe because of his wealth or even fame. Was he jinxed to have settled for Laura?

** I stared at the word. One small answer. One open door. Across the city, Chase was probably preparing for tomorrow’s game, believing he still controlled every important piece on the board. He did not know I had already moved closer to the one person he would do anything to protect. I set the phone down beside Missy’s photograph. Then I smiled. The game had already started.
