“Oof, sorry. Open the gift. I wanna know what it is too.” Ares obliged without a word, sitting on the floor and unwrapping the gift. Inside the box was a ring and a book. The book was titled Charms and How To Use Them. The ring fit his finger just right. When Ares opened the book, there was some scribbling from Percy inside. Happy 8th birthday my son. You need some luck this year, so make sure to use the ring and the book. Stay strong my Ares.

Jay gave her a look while Rose stared back at him vengefully, whispering, “Didn’t you say that Old Master Ares wouldn’t open gifts?” “Mm, I meant gifts from outsiders,” Jay said proudly. She wanted to cry but found no tears. God damn it, this b*stard was too good at dismissing people. Under the glaring eyes of onlookers, Rose had no choice but to present her gift. Hanging her head low, she anticipated the voices of mockery. Old Master Ares opened up the gift box and unfurled the scroll. The ink was not dry yet, so his hand was accidentally stained with a black streak of ink.

He was tired, but he needed to let the Zenith know what he was capable of. "And give them this as my gift." As he said those words, he grabbed and cut the thumb of Francisco. The man screams in horror as Ares puts his thumb on his palm. The elders gasp, shaking, not wanting to witness Ares slaughtered the men, and now ending with a mark on one of Monaco's family. When Ares stood up and walked out, Liam followed him, but before that, he stopped and turned his head to Hugo, who looked dumbfounded.

“And if he isn’t immortal?” “He will have a very long life.” “Woah!” He is pensive for a minute, “What are we looking for?” I smile, “I need you to dig into the elder archives and look for any grimoires or ancient texts that speak of the beginning. If Ares’s mother was so powerful and working for Hades, then why would she allow for her son to be cursed? We need to find out what Ares did that awarded him with such a horrible fate.”

“But I know what it looks like when someone buries their grief for too long.” Silence stretched, thick and heavy. Ares moved through the room, slow and deliberate. He took the watch, wrapped it in the cloth almost tenderly, as if it mattered more than it should. Then, without warning, he offered it to Isla. “Keep it safe,” he murmured. His voice was quiet. “Just tonight.” That was trust, heavy as stone and silent. She only nodded. The emergency lights flickered above them. The storm was easing at last, leaving the city slick and breathing easier. Down on the street, the generators hummed back to life. But the moment between them was already gone.

I closed my eyes, feeling my Siren awoken inside of me, as I could see her starting to shine at the same time as my body started to glow. I opened my eyes, looking at the Goddess, her hand retracted as she silently looked at me. “What happened?” I asked, looking down at my hands, seeing the glow slowly disappearing until it was fully gone. “Your gift is now fully awoken.” She said to me. “My gift?” I asked her, confused. “Yes my dear child, you have a gift to show the truth. You will be able by your touch to connect the one to me, as they will hear my words and see me, to make them realize the wrong they are doing and what my will and wish is.” She said.

" I snatched the scalpel and sliced open the old woman's abdomen. "I just care more about money. You, on the other hand, are a pure psychopath." The blade avoided the intestines and cut open the stomach. Holding my breath against the sour stench, I reached inside and searched. When I found something hard, I pulled it out, wiped it on my clothes, and tossed the blood-covered chip onto the hood. "Job complete. I'm taking the money." I grabbed the briefcase and turned to leave. "Mark." "What now?"

I swallowed my pride and bit back my desire to push on the topic of his ascension. “Oh, congratulations” I choked, I could feel my shame turning my cheeks a shade of pink. “Thank you. She is a beautiful and healthy baby girl, just like her big sister” Ares cooed. His eyes held a brightness to them, and his tone flooded with pride and love. In that moment he reminded me so much of Micha. A pang of pain and jealousy stabbed through my heart, but I pushed it down as per usual.

Ray smiled bitterly and pulled out a red orb that contained the insignia of Ares, the late god of war, from his pocket. This was Ares’ gift to him before he died. They may have been enemies, but they were still brothers. Ares had left his power to his brother, hoping that Ray would consume it and become even stronger. He may not have been able to reach the sky called Zeus, but he was planning to propel his brother there with his power.

I take a deep breath as I start to undress, unpacking the boxes that Gamma Vincent delivered to my room. All of them are from Ares. “Have a wonderful night,” he says in the note that came with the boxes. “Looking forward to our own night of celebration tomorrow. Love, Ares.” I smile as I open them one by one. Two of the smaller boxes contain high-heeled shoes. One box contained a beautiful deep red gown that’s obviously for tomorrow. And the last box is a simple black dress that’s perfect for a night out.
