"Thanks. Got a book in mind?" "Yeah, 'The Great Gatsby' by F. Scott Fitzgerald," I say, and she points me to where it might be. "Just one left should be along that wall. Good luck." With that, she heads back to her desk. After about 10-15 minutes of searching, I finally spotted it on the fifth shelf. As I reach for the book on the fifth shelf, I find myself stretching on my tiptoes, struggling to grab it. But then, I start to tip backward, almost taking a tumble.

But still, the effect it had on me was unexpected. He was now carefully inspecting my books on the shelf Hayden and Drew had built for me. I couldn’t help but watch him as his fingers brushed over each spine. “Why were you at my school earlier?” The words rushed out before I could stop them, curiosity winning out caution. He pulled out a copy of the Great Gatsby and started flipping through. “Why are you hanging out with a doucebag who clearly only wants to get into your pants?” His counter remark was so casual I almost didn’t believe he had just said that.

I giggled at his agitation, swallowed some tea. "You'll look amazing in a tuxedo." I rotated to include Bart, Dorian, and Gabe. "You all will." I pulled the book closer and flipped through the pages. All of the dresses were beautiful, airy, and light. I couldn't imagine trying to move around in something so elegant. The guys crowded around, each commenting on which one they thought would suit me best. I cringed at wearing any of the dresses and considered speaking to Professor Pops. Gatsby jumped onto a chair and onto the counter, rubbing his body along one of my arms.

The two of them opened their books and read, serenaded by the crackling and popping of wood, the atmosphere warm and comfortable. Within the first few pages of The Great Gatsby, her mind was transported back to 1920s New York. It had been a while since she read an actual book, most of her reading pleasure dedicated to fashion magazines and social media. She hated to admit she was glad there was no Wi-Fi or cell phone service in this neck of the woods. Chris explained earlier that he wanted this place to be a rustic respite from the busyness and time-suck electronics

He asked, yawning as he closed his and slipped the cap onto the open pen, he leaned back into the chair as I set my phone onto the table. "It was good... a bit boring", I said, trying to cover the real truth. I had never called a book boring in my lifetime, but with him in front of me, everything else became boring to look at or even do. "How was your book?" I asked, and he began telling me how the book was, and I listened intently hoping he kept analyzing his book. He proved my theory right, everyone in The Great Gatsby was somewhat mentally ill, they were no good guys or girls, just people getting by.

Maybe he wasn't staring at me, but wondering to himself why the hell I was sitting alone reading a book. When I noticed he was coming this way, I held my book tighter, like I was holding onto my dear life. "What are you reading?" He asked. "Gone with the Wind." "Oh, by Margaret Mitchell right?" He never fails to surprise me with his extensive knowledge of writers. I nodded. "I've read it a few times." "What do you think about it?" I asked, genuinely curious about his opinion of one of my favorite books. "It's a ruthless book for sure," he chuckled, "the last fifty pages was the most tragic and upsetting thing I've ever read."

We were focusing on the 1800's and the flow of Jane Austen's words. I've read the book before so I know what's going to happen & I watched the movie, but let me just say this: ITS TOTALLY OVERHYPED. It's not overrated, but it's overhyped. Do you understand the difference? If not, I don't have the time to explain it. I'm not saying that it isn't a great book— because, trust me it is,— but I didn't get why everyone was especially fascinated with it. See? I can't explain it. I tried so hard to focus today, but my mind kept wandering to daydream instead.

“Missed you too, what you up to?” “Nothing much, reading” I grinned, giving him a peck on the nose. “What you reading?” Felix asked as we headed inside. “That book for English Studies. Thought it’s about time I greet Jay Gatsby” I smiled, heading towards the couch. “Should probably start reading it as well” Felix sighed, “But will probably just watch the movie in the end” he said, making me flinch. Being one of those anti-movie people when it came to books, it kind of hurt that Felix wasn’t like that.
