However, I had learned a painful lesson that people's hearts were a fickle lot, and it was rare to find anyone truly sincere about their feelings. "Give me some time, Brian," I said quietly. Brian nodded gently. "Alright. I'll wait." After getting home, I saw the long email that Queenie sent to me. Every word she wrote was full of remorse, saying that she regretted losing me as a close friend, and there was nothing else she could say to me aside from apologizing again and again. I stared at the email for a long time. Misty sighed and said, "A mistake is a mistake, and there's no use regretting it because nothing can be undone."

I tried reaching for the diary but Brighton pushed me away, making other students snicker. “What the fuck? I knew you were a weirdo,” He scoffed as he ripped my diary in pieces. Brighton pushed me again, making me fall backward on my hands and knees. I was trembling, humiliated, and alone. The party continued around me as if I don’t exist, the lights glaring, the music booming, everyone cheering for my misery. "Brighton… I thought you loved me… that you believed in us," I sob, my voice cracking as hot tears stream down my face.

I couldn't find a single word to say. Hearing my quiet sobs, Diego's tone softened. "Hey, why are you crying? The principal position is gone, but there's still a place for you here. Just come back." Listening to his reassurance, my tears flowed even harder. Five years ago, I played Chopin's "The Farewell Waltz" in this piano shop. I never imagined that the sadness in the music would someday mirror my heartbreak, as if everything had been destined. Just then, my phone buzzed with a text from my lawyer. "Ms. Tucker, your divorce documents are ready and have been sent to your email. Please check them at your convenience."

I fell asleep to the weight of a decade’s worth of memories, only to be jolted awake by my best friend Ava Trevor’s video call. "Cynthia! Why aren’t you at prom? This is a once-in-a-lifetime thing! What happened?” I handed Lily the envelope, my heart pounding as I watched her reaction. “This was written by Dad, just before he… before everything happened. It’s a letter he wrote to Ethan Blackwood, and it explains a lot of things we didn’t know.” Lily took the envelope, her hands trembling slightly as she pulled out the letter and began to read. Megan immediately dropped to her knees, her voice trembling with desperation. "Please don't turn me away. You took me in when I was just a child. Roland barked. I burst into uncontrollable tears as my knees fell to the ground immediately. I wouldn't let him go like that.
