“Try me.” Selena gave him a skeptical look before shifting to face him properly. “Alright,” she mused, a teasing lilt in her tone. “Once upon a time, there was a cold and mysterious businessman who secretly had the heart of an old man—grumpy, anti-social, and completely uninterested in anything remotely fun.” Julian raised an eyebrow. “Sounds familiar.” Selena grinned. “Let me finish.” She cleared her throat dramatically. “One day, he met a beautiful actress—talented, smart, and far too charming for him.”

“Axel?” “What… what are you doing here?” Emily stuttered. She felt Axel slowly letting go of her, his shocked expression turning into a frown and then a blank stare. “That’s none of your business,” Axel responded coldly letting go of her, as he walked past her but Emily grabbed his arm bringing him to a halt. “Wait, I… I...” “You what?” Axel scoffed shoving her hand off his as he walked down the hallway to find Claire. Emily Hemsworth, his first love and last. She had taken his love for her for granted and shattered his heart into several pieces, he sometimes wished he had caught her cheating or doing something she wasn’t supposed to but none of that ever happened.

Emphasis on the 'her'. But everything that has happened, the pain, sorrow, deaths, anger and all, has made her who she is today, fearless but... (Insecure) she doesn't have a heart anymore because everything that has happened to her has killed it and her conscience performed the ritual of burying her heart. She loves no one, all she can feel is pity, hatred and anger for her life, and anytime she thinks about it, shadows haunt her, she's into herself and I bet you, she lets no ONE in...

Now I'm molded into him fully. I sighed, giving up on the idea of separating from him. I stared at his sleepy face and my body relaxed in his strong but safe arms. I let out a shaky breath while admiring his peaceful features which were glowing under the moonlight. He is so beautifully handsome that my heart hurts. A question popped up in mind while my eyes never left his face for a second. Why is he so heartless? He could have won me easily by showing me his tenderness and affection towards me and by loving me, since I was always sick of love. I have always craved for love.

The fact that my heart still hasn't let go is neither here nor there. The heart will always want what it wants, but there's a flip side to that coin. The heart is deceitful above all else, and that bitch is the first to give out when shit hits the fan. She's like a mischievous little sister who starts shit with someone else, then run away or hides behind you when things get real. So, my heart can want whatever the hell she wants, but I'm not playing that game.

I whisper, bitter, exhausted, “you really don’t have a heart.” He sets the glass down with deliberate care, then starts unbuttoning his shirt. Slowly. Like this is a reveal he’s practiced. “You want to see my heart?” He pulls the fabric aside. A brand. A brutal, scarred B, burned into his flesh right over his heart. Angry. Permanent. “It stands for Blackburn,” he says flatly. “Lucinda has one too.” My stomach twists. Whatever they endured, it was hell. Real hell.

I put the document away and said coldly, "In the past, I also never thought that the person who told me he'd always place me as the top priority in his heart would keep disappointing me over and over again, and betray me for all the eight years we spent together." Misty added lightly, "Nessie, since you're finally free now, the rest of your life will only shine as brightly as a diamond. You'll never have to compromise for anybody else's sake anymore."

It was like a poker game. Once I took the seat, dad broke the silence, "speak up, young man. What brings you to our home, and.." Before dad finished speaking, mom rubbed dad's arm that he'd laid on her shoulder. That way, dad posed, and mom nodded to Anthony. As soon as words left Anthony's lips, my heart skipped a beat, not once but nearly thrice. I could no longer feel my heartbeat. I became emotionless and motionless like a statue. Darkness grew in the room. My body became colder and colder. I could see Anthony's lips moving but couldn't get his words. Suddenly, darkness engulfed my eyes and world.
