It had a cedar shingle exterior painted a soft cream, large windows, a porch wrapped around the building, a wooden dock extending into the still waters of the lake with a small rowboat tied to its end, and the occasional splash of a fish jumping from the water. My gaze shifted to the top floor with dormer windows, and I wondered if the alpha had seen us. Or was he in his wolf form in the woods, surrounded by pine, spruce, oak, and maple trees scattered along the shoreline?
