The Hunt was a farce. Kaelen rode at the head of the main party, a picture of regal leadership, but his heart wasn’t in it. He was going through the motions, a puppet on a string, his mind a million miles away, in a small, herb-scented linen closet.

Tyler’s POV: The hunt was going better than expected. The forest, shrouded in twilight, was eerily silent except for the occasional crackle of leaves beneath our boots and the distant rustle of branches overhead. We had already taken down several animals, their lifeless forms marking a trail deeper into the woods. Yet, there was an unsettling weight in the air, an offbeat silence that I couldn’t ignore. My brothers and I moved in sync, our senses sharp, scanning for our next target.

His hands shook as he pulled off his jacket and wrapped it around Maya's naked form. "Uncle," I snapped. "Answer me." "The Hunt is an ancient ritual," he said finally, his voice hollow. "A blood ceremony performed by dark cults to steal power from supernatural beings." Maya swayed on her feet, and I caught her before she could fall. Her skin was ice cold, and the dark veins were spreading faster now, creeping down her arm like poison. "What kind of power?" I asked.

The memory of his words slithered through me, his voice still echoing from that night when he marked me. "Run, little boy, run, because when we find you, we will hunt." "Promised? I have no idea what you’re talking about! I was running from my pack when you found me—they were going to kill me, I swear," he pleaded, but I didn't buy it. Couldn't. I knew his kind too well, knew what they lived for. They loved the thrill of the hunt, and I was just one more piece of prey.

Connor POV Finally, a decent hunt. When word got out, pretty much all the hunters wanted to go, as we hadn't had the thrill of the chase in over a month. This is purely due to this stupid competition, which was basically decided from the start. Still, no one could have predicted the attacks on this territory. We start working online with Nightstalker to tracking credit cards transaction, CCTV footage, and getting info from other hunters our target might have run into. It takes less than an hour to find him at a five-star resort. How predictable. I load up my weapons and get ready for the hunt.

The entire compound was silent, the only sound that could be heard was that of clicking camera shots from the reporters still behind me. "You stole him. You stole the love of my life!" My eyes grew wide, as I stared at her and then back at my husband.

She confides. “Rambunctious seems too kind of a word to describe him.” I snark. “You needn’t worry. He will not be traveling with you.” She says. “Oh? I just assumed he would be joining.” I say. I had assumed that Horus would be joining. I was pleasantly surprised to hear he would not. “He is needed to help prepare for the hunt with the Alpha.” “I had forgotten about the hunt.” I say more to myself than Mari. The hunt takes place in the days leading up to the hunter’s moon. Only pack members who have shifted participate. “Please watch out for Dmitry.”

Veronica’s POV The Preliminary Hunt exclusive for newly converted rogues is much like other hunting competitions— except that the beasts and creatures hunted must be kept alive. The participants were given magic chokers personalized with assigned colors to each clan as their marking tools for their hunt. The winner will be decided by the highest points accumulated during the given time. Each beast has an assigned point in them depending on their species so it really doesn't depend on quantity. The hunts will be offered to the pack they represent and the pack can decide whether to take in the offerings or not.

The sun fell into the horizon and spread soft shades of gold all over the sprawling grounds of Hampton Annual Hunt. This was the exclusive event in which students coming from every nook and corner of the city gathered at the grand entrance gates of Hampton Estate and chatted excitedly with each other.
