The Hunt For Red October Novel 소설 & 이야기

BRYNN Dante offered to take guard duty with Khalid overnight so that he could get a peek inside of him. The sly smirk that he sent me was enough to tell me that he had some unique methods. I could not wait to hear everything about them. The dream started out with Theo and I strolling through Dark Moon territory at twilight. The backdrop of mountains always looked majestic with the blended colors in the sky. Our territory was a gorgeous place to live. It had been exceptionally quiet since we apprehended Khalid a few weeks ago. Alpha Glenn of Nightshade was in the process of tracking down Veronica, hoping that it would lead us to the Eyes. Sadly, it had not turned up any leads so far.

I was quick to hire the best investigators money could buy to find him. It took them three days to find him. Might have been less if I had found the patched letter on the floor earlier. Matteo Leone. Pretty boy had a pretty name. He was twenty three years old. There was nothing much on him, except his family and his hidden hobbies. He was bisexual. The folder contained rumors that suggested he was living under his father's thumb. I couldn't fathom how any father could treat their own child like hazardous dirt. So, I had searched for more.

“The manhunt game right?” “Yeah. You have to participate or you'll get killed instantly. You have to participate but you get to be the prey of these so-called-hunters with guns, and you—the only thing you can do is run and hide to prolong your life. And if you survive, what's the price? No—no one can survive.” It's when he speaks longer when the realization comes to me that he has a raspy voice like a turntable. “There were actually three of us when it happened. The first one was killed, shot in the head. The second was also killed, but by the man they called 'Eagle Eye'.”

Every step felt like walking on thin ice. Suddenly, a loud, static chime echoed through the entire sector. The massive holographic billboards hovering over the central plaza flickered from colorful advertisements to a bright, flashing red alert. High-frequency sirens began to blare from the watchtowers above. I stopped in my tracks, my heart slamming against my ribs as I looked up at the sky. My face was plastered across every floating screen in the lower city. SECTOR-WIDE MANHUNT: CROWN PRINCE THEODORE MISSING

" As he turned his gaze to the lying body, Higgins spoke out against her overreaction. "What's the deal with your stare?" He inquired, seemingly piqued by the tenacity in her imagined grin. "So you're the hunter that Rachel kept telling about. Paul Higgins, the renowned and experienced warrior hunter who became stranded on this continent and incorporated magic into his..." She was led to confess everything she knew about him, at least the scratched surface information that she had been exposed to. "Shut up, little girl." Higgins blurted in a clear-cut manner. As he strutted to the door, he walked over the inquisitor's laying arm, listening for an incoming sound.

The second he bends down to try to reach the fallen cane, I look at the money again, feeling a nuisance in knowing that he has so much at his disposal. I don't think it's clean money. And I don't like to think about what would be the job that would yield so much, even more than what an ordinary worker achieves in years of heavy duty. Deliberating on this, I follow with my gaze his movements in the corner of the wall, and that's when I notice a strange red circle moving through his back. Hunter reaches the cane, but it takes too long to support himself, and I approach another step. The reddish light seems to come from the window, but there is no one out there, so I allow myself to see bending

I did a little twirl in the middle of the room and started combing the bookshelves to see what treasures I could find. I was just too excited to have found this place. I came across a smaller leather-bound book that had a weird symbol on the front and when I opened it, I realized that it was a history of the Hunter's. I decided to keep that book just in case I needed it. I was totally in my own world when I felt someone’s arms go around me and breath in my ear. "I see you found my favorite place in the house." My body shivered at the contact. I thought that I was going to melt into a puddle right then and there.

Read to find out! The Hunt was my first full novel, and my first attempt writing something longer than a few hundred words, so your feedback is invaluable. I would love to know what you thought and where things can be improved! This is my second draft - the first draft only had 120K words but there were so many more details I wanted to share. I hope you enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed writing it. Stay safe! Much love - Michelle
