I've only read 15 chaps so far, but this is a good piece. Though I think it needs a bit editing, but it's still a loveable story. I love the MC and her personality, more to rational and realistic. Hope MC won't end with the prince or other 'fishes', but still have her happy ending. Good job, Author~

She said lastly and turned into dust, then faded away. But Emily, who had been suspecting that something might go wrong, had already initiated a raid on a lady who ran away when she heard about the death of her mistress.

THE RUNAWAY LUNA

She didn't reply but soon, Liliana drew her hand back, and popped the stick of cigarette into her mouth before taking it back out and blowing a whisp of smoke in the air. "The room to his hotel is 454. Emily will escort you upstairs while I go talk to him." Liliana said, blowin another whisp of smoke. "Who's Emily?" "Emily." Liliana called out, and the bulky muscular guard walked in, chest heaving as she stared at Cassandra who smirked mockingly as she folded her arms. "For a gorilla sized hermaphrodite, your name sounds really pretty…" Emily huffed in anger and resisted the urge to smash her head against the wall, but since Liliana was around, she will osy her due respect by ignoring her.

He adored that about her, she did not dwell on what other women would have seen as flaws. "I'm intrigued by your choices. What makes you think I would be interested in science or philosophy?" "You struck me as an intellectual reader, not one prone to frivolous reading such as books on sewing or manners." "Manners?" Emily scoffed. "A rather bold claim coming from you. But these are all excellent choices. However, you've brought me too many." She pushed them all away save one, The Iliad and The Odyssey. Godric leaned over and with the sweep of his arm brought the books back. "Consider the rest a prelude to my apology." He caught her chin in one hand, his thumb sweeping over her chin and up to

The Captured Mafia Bride

The Captured Mafia Bride

I asked, perplexed. “Good morning, baby girl,” Achilles strolled into the room. He looked like a Greek God, his sweatpants low on his hips. His tanned skin glittered with the sun, the dragon in his chest seeming to look alive. “Achilles, why does Emilio have blood on his hands?” Achilles paused briefly, then continued walking, grabbing some sheets I was certain he didn't need. “Well, you bled a lot last night baby girl,” he smiled, kissing my head, “it's all you.”

Emilia said, "I've decided, I want to join them." Caesar said, "Come here, Mother misses you very much." Emilia spoke loudly: "I'm sorry, please tell her that I will go back to see her when the time is right. I love her very much, but now I have found something more important than this love." She completely took off the volunteer army coat, wearing only the black dress of the Asti people, her silver-white hair fell below her shoulders, and Emilia's eyes shone like stars. Emilia stood straight in the sun: "We are equal."

A World I Never Knew Existed

I muttered a quick hello since she was a stranger to me no matter how comforting her smile was I have to keep my guards up. "Let me look at what's wrong with you." She pushed away from the door and came towards my bed with the angel face hot on her heels. "I was walking and didn't look where I was going and totter upon her and she got injured." The angel face explained hurriedly. "You should be more careful while you are walking Emilia. The poor child here is paying for your mistake." Ms. Wilson scolded the angel face. Whose name is Emilia I guess?

She cursed foully under her breath. As they approached the gates the soldiers on guards passed questioning glances to each other before approaching them with their hands on the hilt of their swords. “Who are you?” one of them demanded. Ilena cursed them foully under her breath in their native tongue. The guards colored at her words and exchanged glances with Emilia who pressed her lips together to keep from laughing. “You must forgive my maid, her coin bag was stolen on our way here. We are guests of your king Helos.”

Pampered by Billionaires after Being Betrayed

"You can do it, believe in yourself!" Suddenly, a roar came from the entrance. "Get your hands off her!" Jackson had just arrived and witnessed them. Wilson reached out to touch Emily, and this foolish woman didn't even know to step back? With a stride, Jackson pulled Emily behind him, glaring at Wilson. "What are you doing?" Wilson was helpless. "Boss, you've misunderstood. I was just expressing my admiration for Emily..." "Can't you express it with words?" "It's not... How do I explain this? Emily, can you explain it?"

Sold to the Devil

“Fitting.” They sat in silence for a while longer, watching as the first drops of rain kissed the petals of the wisteria. The quiet was comforting. Emilia reached into her pocket and pulled out her notebook again, this time not to write names, but to sketch—lazy lines of vines, blossoms, and runes she remembered from Elira’s lessons. Mochi leaned against her side. “We’ll be okay,” she murmured. Emilia glanced down at her. “Even if they hate me again?”

Frequently Asked Questions

Every time I delve into 'The Iliad,' especially the translation by Emily Wilson, I feel like I’m experiencing this epic tale with fresh eyes. What stands out about her version is the way she manages to breathe new life into a work that’s been translated countless times before. The language she uses is strikingly modern, which makes the text accessible without sacrificing the intricate nuances of the original Greek. There’s a rhythm and immediacy to her writing that captures the intensity of the battles and the emotional depth of its characters. I often catch myself getting lost in her portrayal of the Greek heroes, their flaws, and their humanity.

Wilson's translation also focuses on the perspectives of women and minor characters, bringing a wider lens to a story often dominated by male warriors. For instance, her retelling highlights figures like Briseis and Helen in ways that resonate strongly with contemporary themes of agency and power. I’ve always found it fascinating how these women’s struggles and emotions ground the larger themes of war and honor, and Wilson’s approach truly emphasizes that. It’s not just a recounting of glory on the battlefield; it’s also about the very personal costs of conflict and love, which resonates with many readers today, creating a connection across centuries.

Moreover, her choice to use straightforward yet evocative language allows the beauty and brutality of the original to shine through without feeling archaic. It’s almost like she invites you to enter the chaos of Troy alongside Achilles and Hector, making it feel alive and immediate. This accessibility is something I appreciate when diving into classics—it bridges the gap between past and present, allowing us to find relevance in ancient tales. I often find myself recommending this translation to friends who have never approached 'The Iliad' before because it’s just so approachable and engaging.

In a world that sometimes feels overwhelmed with content, Emily Wilson’s 'The Iliad' is a refreshing reminder of why these stories have endured. The balance she strikes between fidelity to the source and compelling narrative makes it not just a translation but a vibrant retelling. If you’re looking to understand the human condition through the lens of one of the oldest stories, this version is definitely the way to go. I can’t help but feel excited every time I revisit it, discovering new layers of meaning and connection with the characters who, despite their mythic qualities, struggle with very human issues.
