I growled, ensuring my voice was low enough for only him to hear. The man yelled out in pain and made a U-turn, his eyes shooting daggers at me. "What the hell do you think you are doing, man?" he spat. My grip tightened as my gaze remained firm. "That’s my girl, let go of her, now." The stranger's eyes widened, and a glint of realisation flickered across his features for a split second. He released his grip, seemingly taken aback by the force behind my words. Keira stepped back, relief washing over her features as she regained her freedom.

I moved closer to the chair, the hum filling the room. I leaned in again, my voice low. “Here’s the thing. Everyone talks. Maybe not at first. Maybe not for hours. But eventually, everyone breaks. You’re no different.” The man spat again, this time at my boots. “I won’t break.” I smiled coldly. “We’ll see.” My men pressed the metal prongs against his ribs, and the jolt ripped through him like fire. His back arched, his scream tearing from his throat and echoing off the stone. The smell of burnt flesh filled the air.

He simply raised his hands above his head and replied, “I’m here to find the gold bar.” The man’s face turned gloomy. “So, you are the little thief who stole from my safe half a month ago? You have a lot of guts to break into my home a second time. Do you have a death wish?” This man was ruthless. As soon as he spoke those words, he was about to pull the trigger. However, at the very last minute, a golden light suddenly flashed behind Ash. A golden needle shot through the air and pierced through the man’s wrist.

But— It didn’t connect. Because the man wasn’t there anymore. He had already moved. Not faster. Earlier. Like he knew her move— Before she made it. Emily’s eyes narrowed instantly. “You’re predicting me.” The man reappeared behind her. Close. Too close. “Not predicting.” A whisper near her ear. “Remembering.” Emily turned instantly— But again— Too late. A strike landed. Clean. Sharp. Not powerful— But precise. Enough to push her back.

She reached up and pressed her palm flat against his jaw, feeling the slight rasp of stubble under her fingers, real and solid and entirely present. "Okay," she said softly. "Okay?" "Okay." She leaned in and kissed him, slow and unhurried, nothing like the desperate urgency of two nights ago on the porch, something quieter now, something that felt less like relief and more like two people choosing each other again, deliberately, with open eyes this time. They didn't hear the knock on the front door until it came a second time, sharper, more urgent. Silas pulled back first, frowning toward the hallway. "That's not the kind of knock that brings good news."

The Beast Within.” My stomach twisted. “And Chapter Three,” he continued, his expression becoming even colder, “The Alpha Bloodline.” He released the book into my hands and stepped away. “Good luck, Princess.” He walked past us, deliberately brushing against Rigina’s shoulder this time before disappearing between the shelves. Rigina turned and watched him leave, then looked back at me. “I officially hate him.”

Nothing to connect me to a certain Maeve Summers, save for a flip phone I’d use to record something. “Unless you’d rather do a stop and frisk.” The femme fatale rolled a lazy tongue along her teeth, making the bare-chested man on my right chuckle. At first, I wanted to call the second book "My Brother's Keeper" and I wanted to make it a separate book from this one but it's literally just a continuation of Not My Brother so I decided to just post the new chapters under this story.
