A hot brain-formatting slap landed on my cheeks. It sent pain all over my head, but I tried to keep myself on my ten toes. My inner being groaned and howled in anger as she lifted my hands, giving back a hot slap on her face. The door shut opened. My hand hung in the air as she hold onto her face, crying and sobbing badly. Turning my face to the entrance, my face landed on the Lycan prince. What! Why is he here? Even though they were exhausted, the Blade's dim brightness kept them focused on their mission. They eventually arrived at the centre of the labyrinth, a big room filled with a strange, fluctuating light. A pedestal with a piece of crystalline light on top stood in the middle of it. It beat in time with the beat of Kael's heart. With amazement in her voice, Zara said, "The Fragment of Truth." The surrounding shadows started to twist furiously as Kael got closer to the pedestal. A tall figure—a representation of the Labyrinth itself—rose out of the shadows. It was a whirling vortex of light and shadow, constantly shifting in shape.

It clings to the earth in wisps, swirling around the broken stones of the old walls, veiling the lilacs in ghostly silver. I sit by my window, chin resting on my knees, watching the heavy night press against the glass. My desk, not far from where I am, is filled with crumpled paper. Evidence of my failed attempts at writing a worthy letter that I aim to send to secret and not-so-secret Lycan supporters that exist in the kingdom. I'm not so smart that I can still memorize who are pro-Lycans in the future. But knowing that there are some existing in this kingdom is more than enough for me.

Her skills wasted, her mind dull. She reached the edge of the Labyrinth at sunset. Black trees towered above her. Once she entered the Labyrinth there was no turning back. Her family would be furious with her and frightened for her. But Crimson knew this was the right thing to do. She entered the Labyrinth. The path twisted and turned. This was no maze. There was no way she could get lost, no forks, no alternate paths; just one path that she walked further from her old life and towards the dragon.
