A deafening roar suddenly tore through the silence outside. The sound of rotor blades grew from a distant hum to a thundering pulse, and the entire room trembled. A black helicopter descended onto the base's landing pad, the silver logo of Lattimer Maritime Group gleaming on its fuselage. The rotors had not even fully stopped before the cabin door swung open.

Hope suddenly felt a cold breeze. She looked upward. The two suns began turning dark. And across the sky appeared three words: THE LAST WORLD. Hope’s heart stopped.
