The last pack—once the last surviving group after the attacks and poisoned water—now rests under a council’s rule. Around the old wooden table, Emily squeezed my hand under it. I smiled. She clings to me lately, and I don’t mind. I don’t get her insecurity. The last pack is now led by a council: me, Emily, Hunter, Salem, Domus, Kaden, and Liam.
