He grabbed me and rushed to the hospital. “Valentina’s delivering, Lilian! Wish for her and the baby’s safety now!” Valentina Wilson was Alex’s childhood sweetheart. She claimed the baby in her womb was the reincarnation of an angel and that it needed the blessing of a mermaid to survive the birth.

"Ashton," I said softly. As I reach to touch him everything begins to vanish, my beautiful dream was shattered. "As expected, your last wish is Ashton." She only had one wish. Dear Lord, she whispered to herself, I wish Dad would get his heart transplant and that he’d get well. She opened her eyes and moved closer to the flickering candles. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes—an image of Mr. Hot-Choc appeared in her mind. What? She shook her head to clear the image, confused. “Come on, Alex, blow!” Nikita squealed. She closed her eyes, lowered her head, and blew. All the candles winked out, followed by the sound of ever-so-slightly sarcastic cheering and clapping.

"Something like… his birthday wish finally came true, or something along those lines. That might be what he cares about most deep down. If you want to try waking him up, you could start from there." Mom kept turning the doctor's words over in her mind. She murmured to herself, "A birthday wish? That's right… Zero has never once celebrated his birthday. He must really want that. But what was his birthday wish?" I wanted to tell her that my birthday wish was to die. All she needed to do was stop the treatment, and my wish would finally come true. Unfortunately, Mom couldn't hear

They tore through the armour, through the scars, straight into the hollow space where I still kept the memory of our ring. "Take these scary bodyguards away from my face and take yourself with them," she hissed, the words coming out in a frantic rush. "The Final Wish clearly stated that after the last wish, neither of us is to have anything to do with each other ever again. We were to become ghosts. I ask that you respect my wish, Alpha Astance. Leave. Me. Alone." I stared at my reflection in the window. I looked like a stranger, a man with too much power and not enough of what he actually wanted. I saw Kaelen in the reflection of the doorway, watching me with

She announced stubbornly, “You know, I think I deserve more than one wish after all that’s happened, so I’m going to make wishes and I want you all to hear them.” “Well, okay then, Miss Warrior, let’s hear them.” “First, I wish that I could have a swimming pool in the backyard. Second, I wish that Seraphiel could come back to us. Third, I wish that everything in those towns would be back to the way it was. That’s what I want. Oh, and that Mama and Michael get married!” She blew out her seven candles, one for each year, and one for good luck. “There! Now, can I have a piece of pizza, please?”
