The Last Wish Novels & Stories

The Wishmaster whispered. “I unwish my first wish!” “You cannot undo a wish.” “What? But how else do I get out of this?” I cried. “Make a wish, Empress Zelda.” I sighed. I had to do this the right way. I couldn’t make the same mistake as last time. What would be the best wish? “I wish...to go back to right before I made my first wish. Before the fog appeared.” The Wishmaster frowned this time, which told me I had done the right thing. “Your wish is my command.”

"I'm just surprised you didn't wish Sharra destroyed instead of wishing to save Laeddin, especially since there are billions of lives who will suffer because you didn't think bigger." I was taken aback. He was right. Why hadn't I thought bigger? Silindra told me what to wish for and I didn't even question her. Surely she had considered the rest of the world. "Can I change my wish?" I asked softly, already knowing the answer. It was too late. I'd made my wish and there was no takebacks. "I'm afraid not." He curled up into a ball in the far corner of the cave. "Your wish is my command," he said languidly and closed his eyes.

As she finished, her breathing turned even weaker as it took her all her strength, while she leveled a pleading gaze at the nurse. The nurse nodded, unable to bring herself to deny a child's dying wish. "Alright, I'll send it right now." "Thank you…" Rory could only mouth those words, no longer having the strength to speak. Tears were welling up in the nurse's eyes—she could see that Rory was holding on to her last breath just to see Henry one last time. As such, she texted the number Linda kept calling just now, word-for-word as Rory had asked. "I've sent it." The nurse smiled at Rory, leaning down to speak with her again.

Nancy Cole looked at Anaan in the long light of the evening and thought of her father as a young man in a photograph, standing in this same garden, smiling with his whole face. She thought he would have wanted her to be happy. She thought, with a clarity that did not require argument, that she was. — END — HIS GRANDFATHER'S LAST WISH

“Please… don’t leave me…” His eyes fluttered open slightly. Weak and fading. But they found me. Like he was holding on just to see me one last time. His lips moved softly, barely above a Whisper. “Go… to… Ash…” he whispered, his voice broken, almost gone. “My last wish… you must…” He coughed weakly. His grip on my hand tightened for a second, then weakened. “Say it…” I begged, tears streaming down my face. “Please… say it…”

I get out of the car, rub my wrist that was free of its magical chain the moment I granted his wish, then slide my hands into my slacks and walk over to him. “Did you see them? Oh my god, the look on their faces was priceless! She looked so mortified,” he chortles. “I take it you’re happy then,” I say apathetically. “You really are the real thing! I can’t believe that actually worked! That cheating slut finally gets to be humiliated like she humiliated me. What can I wish for next?” he asks gleefully. “I already told you, you only get one wish.” “In the movies, they give three wishes,” he says suspiciously as if I’m trying to scam him of his wishes. It’s not like I work on fucking commission

Even though Arnold can't beat me. 'Arnold? So, you—' The woman laughed. The woman's eyes bulged, looking pleased with the change in Raymond's expression. 'Precisely. I killed him. Do you know what his last wish was?' 'I don't want to hear,' Raymond approached the woman, preparing to fire the bullet back at the woman. 'Don't touch Raymond Cooper,' the woman laughed again. 'But you innocently took your own death! I feel sorry for Arnold. His struggle was in vain—'

Joshua gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear before kneeling beside her. "Go ahead, Sheila. Make your wish." Looking at the hopeful faces surrounding her, Sheila folded her hands and slowly closed her eyes. "My first wish… I hope my legs recover as soon as possible. "My second wish… I hope the rest of my life will be filled with freedom and happiness. "My third wish… I hope the people I never want to see again will disappear from my world forever." Thunderous applause filled the ballroom. To everyone else, her wishes seemed unremarkable. Only Joshua and Max understood their meaning, and the smiles on their faces faltered.

Shining through with a shocking blue I gape at the vertical shape of its irises. As soot begins to flow from the destruction and I nod at the beast as my heart slows in my chest. With a growl large, webbed wings that crash through the walls expand on its back. I fall facedown onto the floor feeling the earth move as its humongous claws leave my vision. A vortex of wind blow through the hall at the beat of its wings as the world goes silent. As my heart takes its last beat I recall all that has come to be in this life. With my final breath I heave one last wish into the world. Forgive me.
