I couldn’t just let her slip away. I couldn’t just sit there. I had to try to get us out. I screamed, pushing against the invisible chains that bound me. My body was heavy, aching, but I refused to give in. My eyes burned, my muscles screamed in protest, but I had to move. I had to save us. I forced my body forward, straining with every ounce of strength I had left. My arms and legs felt like they were going to snap, my head throbbed as though it might explode, but I pushed through. My heart raced in my chest as I tried to break free from the spell.
