“Regina, you’re just too kind. A guy like this isn’t worth your time. Look at him, all pathetic and hopeless. A complete loser!” His tone dripped with disdain, as if he’d forgotten that ten years ago, he was even worse. In our last life, Regina’s family had opposed her relationship with Tyler for good reason. He was nothing more than a delinquent, constantly in trouble with the law. The first time I met Regina in college, she had just bailed Tyler out of the county jail and was being pressured by her family to break up with him. During her lowest days, I stayed by her side and helped her through it.

Janet was waiting for me outside, her eyes flicking past me toward the room behind me. "Thinking about going in to save her?" I asked. "No. I was just wondering what's going on." "I see." She handed me a file. "Laura jumped into a river trying to get away from some debt collectors and ruined one of her legs. Now she's hiding at an illegal underground club, working as a hostess. "But that bad leg makes her pretty much useless there. All she does is run errands for the other women. She hardly sleeps. They keep her working nonstop.

I whispered the words, the very sound of it ejecting a laughter from me. A sad laughter. “This is so pathetic!” I choked, silently breaking down as tears left my eyes. “I am so pathetic. My entire life so… so pathetic and I’m sick of it!” I’m so tired of feeling this way. I’m tired of it… which is why I need to change it. “I need to change, and get my life back.” I said, letting the words sink in. “That’s right, I need to take my life back! From all of them. This is my life, and my decision. Everything is my decision”

“Auntie Isla, tomorrow is the school’s family event. Can you go with me?” Holding Sam and Isla’s hands, he left without looking back. Their resolute figures stabbed deeply into my heart. When the boss announced my sentence and ordered my execution, the three of them were happily attending a school family event. So in this life, I decided to give Sam and Isla my blessings. Yet Isla still refused to let me go, even though I had already chosen to stay away. The exact same framing as in my previous life made my whole body go cold.

It was no wonder they failed to recognize me. Taking a few breaths to prepare myself, I released the tiny blade I had hidden in my ring and began cutting through the ropes. He understood and then looked away as if nothing happened. Charles walked briskly to the stadium and then stopped a few feet away from me and started his final speech of the day (well I hoped it was) He started "We have all witnessed the battles that have taken place in this stadium and have borne witness. On this note, I will leave the rest of the talking to our great Alpha, Alpha Kenneth." "Great people of the Lynx Pack. You have all been patient and have seen the outcome of it. This girl has emerged winner of the Decima and her life is proof of it. Therefore, I would like to give her a gift."

They don't know I have plans, lots and lots of plans. It's a different feeling when you have a new lease on life. It's as if the whole world has been opened up to you, or as they say, it's your oyster. Things I didn't pay much attention to before now have new meaning, and I've found a new joy in even the simplest of things, while some things have been harder to traverse.
