A ripple went through the room, curiosity, confusion, a few raised brows.
I let it build, then I continued talking. “She will be the new Luna of this kingdom.”
Gasps broke like a wave.
It wasn’t subtle at all, it was a sharp, audible shock rolling across the hall. A few women stared openly, some elders exchanged looks, and more than one person’s scent flashed sour with disbelief.
But before anyone could fully absorb it, someone out in the crowd suddenly rushed to the front.
“That can’t be possible!”
