I was the only one still trapped in the hatred of three years ago. I lit the candles and bowed my head before them. "Mom. Baby. I saw them again. "Julian Sterling thinks I'm going to save him." I gave a cold laugh. "This time, I'll send them to hell with my own hands."

The uncertainty on the gods’ faces lasted less than a second. But Eleanor saw it. More importantly— So did Alaric. They were afraid of what he became when he loved something. The thought settled heavily inside Eleanor’s chest. Maybe it’s because I’ve not had friends since I was a teen and lost touch on what it’s like to have people to hang around with, I shrug, I am not sure, but the feeling is nice. I’m as lonely as the word lonely can get, I have nothing of extra value apart from my savings, which I managed to have from mostly my dad and hard work but other than that, I’m just an ordinary lady yet this man who seems to have everything is going through this ‘ordinary’ path to be with me.

No people may translate that different; religious people will say someone who will stand in prayer with you and be by your side at all times. People may say someone who will be with you through thick and thin. Out of all the translations I found,the common thing was find someone who can stand the changes of life with you, someone who with defend your honor as you will theirs.

The carousel was still there, spinning round as if nothing had changed. I bought a ticket and sat on the same familiar horse. The wind blew against my face. I closed my eyes.
