The monster's real abilities numbered exactly three. And so did its death conditions: Anyone who learns all three of the monster's abilities will die. Anyone who agrees to or refuses the monster's requests three times in a row will die. Anyone who remains in the loop for three full hours will die. From the moment I opened my eyes and saw those three lines, I had already stepped into a dead end. And yet… a smile curved my lips. Because the loop's limit wasn't three cycles. It was five. And right now, I was only on the fourth.

THEO’S POV The screens glow blue in front of me, numbers and graphs shifting faster than my eyes can follow. I don’t even bother trying to keep up. The system whispers the results in real time anyway, clean, efficient, almost smug. The Loop prototype is alive, and the city doesn’t even know it’s being watched, steered, corrected. Traffic flows like water. Emergency crews are cutting response times in half. Cameras tilt, sensors hum, cars move where they’re told to move, like a choreographed dance.

The city is siphoning their distress, turning their adrenaline into raw voltage to keep the ‘Perfect Loop’ spinning for Kael and his court. It’s a farm. This whole territory is just a farm for Alpha-stability, and Kael is the prized bull who doesn't even know he's being fed on the blood of the forgotten. A sharp, cold vibration stabs against my spine. *They are watching,* Leo’s pulse warns through my marrow. *The architect is measuring the interference.*

Elijah ripped the items out of the young nurse’s hands. The brown paper bag tore open, and a phone, along with a thick stack of documents, spilled onto the floor. The phone’s screen lit up, displaying endless rows of chat logs and audio recordings. Inside were conversations between Chloe and the thugs from years ago, paired with the bank transfer records. There were even messages showing how she had bribed doctors to forge her depression diagnosis, along with a few voice notes she had sent to her friends.

"Is it stopped?" "No," Julian murmured. He slowly lifted his thumb from the scanner, then gently reached down to peel Clara's hand away from the glass. Her fingers were stiff, locked in place by adrenaline. He held her hand in his, his grip warm and protective. "A hard shutdown would trigger the cartel's dead-man switches. I didn't stop the loop, Clara. I closed it." The central monitor slowly whirred back to life, but the interface was entirely different. A schematic of a double-helix data stream was spinning in a slow, infinite circle.

"Explain it to me, Kael. Properly, for once, instead of speaking in half sentences and letting me piece together the horror on my own." Kael guided her gently away from the common room, back up the narrow stairs to the privacy of their shared quarters, before he spoke again. "The loop does not always repeat the entire world," he said carefully. "Sometimes it corrects itself in smaller ways. A single day repeats. A single death undoes itself and happens again, exactly the same, or sometimes slightly different, depending on what has changed." "But why would I remember it, when no one else does? Why would that woman not remember her own death?"

"We have the emergency shutdown protocols we snatched from the Sutherland backup, right? We can wrap it in an encrypted loop, freeze the segment, then physically incinerate the servers. You don't have to throw yourself into the fire." Anji looked at his friend. Arga’s face was grimy, desperate, and remarkably, stubbornly human. He shook his head. "The loop won't hold," Anji whispered. "It knows my patterns too well. It’s wearing my digital scent like a shroud. If we do this, one of us has to be the anchor, or it just jumps to the next available system."
