"That's the problem, isn't it? You always put work before us. You're never here when we need you. I can't keep living like this."
Mr. Johnson looks defeated, and I can see the pain etched on his face. "I don't want a divorce, but I don't know how to fix things. I feel like we're just stuck in this endless cycle of arguing and resentment."
I lean forward, trying to offer some comfort. "It's not uncommon for couples to feel this way, Mr. Johnson. Marriage is hard work, and it takes effort from both partners to make it succeed. Perhaps some counseling could help you both learn how to communicate better and work through your issues."
