Edward was breathless by the time they parted. “I need to get back to work before Angela comes to find where I am,” Sebastian said. “There’s only one number in the phone. You’ll find it’s the most important one.” Sebastian left the library after readjusting his blond hair to its usual style. Edward took a moment to recover his breath and checked the contact list on his new phone. Of course the one number saved there was Sebastian’s. He tucked the new phone away in his pocket after checking out the features. It was clearly an expensive one and was considerably more modern than his previous phone. Sebastian had probably bought him the most expensive phone he could.

Lily’s voice softened further. “Balance isn’t about limiting extremes equally.” A pause. “It’s about preserving relationships between things.” The structure surged violently. Luke suddenly understood. Not control. Not freedom. Continuity. The ability for existence to remain connected through change.
