"You will be in it for the money. See him as a bank and the money he'd give you as a loan. He needs you for his own personal reasons and you need him. You're both using each other Lila, nothing is wrong with that." Lila shook her head at that. "Everything is wrong with it Ema." She said as he sat down on the couch. "I have dreamt of my marriage since I was a little girl. My husband would be madly in love with me and he'd be willing to worship the floor I walked on. And my children? I dreamt of having a lot of them. And some pets, a few dogs and a cat that would be the Queen of our house. A contract marriage is the complete opposite of that dream. Ema, I just can't."

But as Luca wrapped her in his arms, she felt a sense of comfort that she couldn't explain. "Don't go away from my sight from now on," he said as she struggled to break free. She couldn't deny the rush of adrenaline she felt when he held her close, even though she knew their marriage was just a sham. "I didn't agree to this marriage for your pleasure, remember?" she said, trying to push him away. But Luca just chuckled, unfazed by her resistance. "Yeah," he replied softly, holding her tightly. Elena couldn't help but feel conflicted about the situation. Was God punishing the Romanos, or was she just using Luca's weakness against him?

She scrambles back against the pillows, breath coming in sharp gasps, eyes bright with tears she refuses to let fall. “No,” she says, shaking her head. “No – this is wrong. I stood in a church and I married your son. Two days ago.” The words are sharp with shock, not logic, but I let her finish. I let the panic crest, then I speak. “That marriage was a contract,” I say, evenly. “You know that.” She freezes. “You didn’t marry for love,” I continue. “You didn’t promise fidelity of feeling. You promised duration, performance, appearance.”

Darryl opened the door without even turning around. "Is there anything more important than discussing our plans?" Charles jumped up and down and yelled. "Pick up my wife." "..." Charles froze for a moment, totally speechless. It wasn't until he heard Darryl driving away that he came to his senses. Charles thought he must have heard wrong. How could Darryl get married without him knowing? Charles feels that their friendship has been betrayed, apparently they have agreed that when they get married, they must tell the other two friends first. But Darryl quietly married.

father said in an indifferent tone. Fidgeting with my fingers, I looked at the floor. “Our pack doesn’t treat marriage like a joke, Diana. If you are married to someone, you are expected to spend your entire life with that person. Happily or not, it doesn’t matter. Breaking a marriage is like breaking a divine vow. Our pack rules have strict punishments for the people who break it. But the thing is, your marriage was on paper and neither of you haven’t taken any holy vows before God. Why do you think I asked you to keep it a secret? From the very beginning, this marriage contract between you and Zephyr was supposed to be business. So, what changed in these two months for you to take such a h

"Hand over 750 grand, and I'll vanish. Refuse, and I'll haunt you every waking moment." Like father, like son, both had dollar signs for souls. I snapped my fingers, and my muscle stepped out of the shadows, disarmed Matthias, and gave him a taste of his own medicine. He did not last long before he was sprawled out, howling on the ground. I strolled up, spat on him, and made it clear, "Cross my path again, and it's another beating, guaranteed." Two months later, I tied the knot with my assistant, Wendy Gibson. We threw one hell of a bash.

I stumbled out of the hospital in a daze. The doctor had been smiling just moments ago, congratulating me on how healthy the baby was. Then, she casually asked, "When are you planning to register your marriage with the father?" I froze. I told her we had been married for five years. The doctor frowned and checked the system again. Finally, she turned the screen toward me. [Marriage Registration: None.] Five years ago, Enrico Salvatore slipped a ring onto my finger himself and told me all the paperwork had been taken care of. He said his position in the mafia made it inconvenient to go public.

Because she didn't know how to take or how to mark something as her own. Alex wouldn't do the same mistake as her, he wouldn't be like his mum. He wouldn't spend his days craving love, support and success. He would take. He would conquer; until everything he wanted belonged to him. That's what he did. And this time, that's what he would do. He would marry, even if it was a contract. With a devilish grin that seemed to round about his thin lips, he called up his lawyer, Martin Henderson and asked him to about a contract. A marriage contract of six months. When he was informed that it was possible, he breathed in relief.

The scent of lemon and mint filled her, possibly from his cologne. Her thoughts raced wildly. She barely had nine months to live and this man was asking her for an entire year. She almost laughed again but stopped herself this time. Marriage. That hadn't been on the list of things she'd written out as a death wish but wouldn't it be nice to experience, especially since it'll be with the man who she'd had her first night with. At least before her time of death would come. She smiled at the thought. Noticing her smile, Vince seemed pleased. He mistook it for greed cause from the kind of world he was from, money always had a way to bend the will of any soul.

I looked around the house on which she always bragged about, a house which was built by her late husband and I wondered if this was the way her mother in-law also treated her? My husband finally cleared his throat, his voice low and nervous. “Mama, please. Let’s not fight. Amaka didn’t mean any harm.” The apology wasn’t for me , it was for her. And it pierced deeper than her insults. Mama clapped her hands dramatically, the sound sharp. “See how she is already turning you against me! This is how marriages scatter. Mark my words.” I sat down, pushing food around my plate without tasting it. Conversation resumed in whispers, but I could feel the tension pressing down on me from every side.
