The masked heiress Novels & Stories

THE MASKED HEIRESS Location: Vienna | The Valkyrie Opera House — Two Days Later Snow fell in wet veils across the marble steps of the Valkyrie Opera House, melting into the crimson carpet rolled out for the elite. Inside, a masquerade gala masked a quiet war—silent alliances blooming behind jeweled masks, whispered threats drifting with the scent of aged champagne. Chaewon descended the grand staircase like she’d been born from marble—clad in black velvet and silver-threaded lace that kissed her curves like reverence. Her face was obscured by an obsidian mask, etched in the shape of a broken phoenix wing.

“Father, is there a required style of Heir Mask I am required to wear for the Wedding? I know it’s more of a veil that covers my lower face, just as all the others have. You and stepmother would prefer to know if there's a theme I should be working with. For my meeting with the Royal designer at 1 pm.” His father’s eyes softened at her words, and he called over one of the maids. Sara moved forward, “I think this will be easier to show rather than explain. Please fetch the Royal Heir Masks, one of mine from my time as heir and one of my daughter’s old ones.” The Crown Princess’s Heir mask was more of a veil than a Mask, and the Crown Prince’s covered one side of the face. The maid nodded and

He had cut Adrian off completely, leaving him to fend for himself. Adrian was eventually sentenced to two years in prison for assault, his future prospects destroyed. In the end, I was the true heiress all along—everything else had been meaningless drama.

Ma’am. Like I am some broke stranger. He is supposed to recognize me. The Mason’s heiress. The woman whose wedding took over half the city tonight. But I came here wearing a mask and a robe over lingerie, looking like a disaster. Good. I do not want anyone to know who I am. I pull out my card and slam it on the counter. “Take all your money and give me the damn drinks,” I snap. He picks it up and runs it through the machine. The small device hums for a moment.

“I think I just got scared for a second—of losing myself in it.” “We’ll take it slow,” he promised. “Whatever you need. We can talk about it more tomorrow, if you want. Figure out what we both want this to be.” Purple closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of his body against hers and the softness of the sheets beneath them. The mask felt heavy on her face now. She wanted to take the mask and reveal her true self, but being covered by mystery can keep themselves against the scandal and issues, especially to her because she is the heiress.

It was clear that she cared deeply for Mac Allister's well-being, just as I did. Curiosity piqued within me as I observed the golden-coloured mask adorning Chiara's face. It exuded an air of mystery and intrigue. "What happened to your face? Why are you wearing a mask?" I inquired, unable to contain my curiosity. A faint smile graced Chiara's lips as she replied, "We just finished having a mask party before you guys arrived. It's a little tradition we have here." Her answer only added to the enigmatic atmosphere surrounding this mansion and its inhabitants.

We are strong and we refuse to let them kill our dreams and visions. “Well, I have no idea what you are talking about. But I just…” I paused, tilting my head slightly. “I heard the heiress hasn’t made any real public appearances. Not until recently—at the Wellington event. The one all over the news.” “I was there,” I added calmly, not accusing or anything. “I saw her. And she was wearing a mask. No one’s actually seen her face.” I gave a small shrug. “So it’s just… interesting that you’re saying you played golf with her last week.”

I hum in agreement. Before we can move further, a servant steps forward, holding out a velvet tray filled with masks. I nudge her. “Pick one.” Her brows shoot up. “Wait… this is a masquerade?” I nod. Sid huffs. “Well, that explains your mysterious masked-woman look.” She reaches forward and selects a black mask studded with tiny diamonds, turning it in the light with clear approval. Then she glances at me and frowns. “Where’s Alex?”

The night air was thick with the scent of power, money, and sin. The Graves Estate stood like a fortress, a mansion of glass and steel, looming over the city like a kingdom of shadows. Inside, the annual masquerade ball was in full swing—New York’s most powerful figures dressed in black and gold, their faces hidden behind delicate masks. Elena stepped into the grand hall, her gown a deep shade of crimson, a color that spoke of war and temptation. She wasn’t here to blend in. She was here to be seen. The room was alive with whispers. Who was she?

We had weathered storms and overcome obstacles, emerging stronger and more resilient each time. But just when we thought we had conquered all challenges, fate had a new twist in store for us. One evening, as we were preparing for a glamorous charity event, a mysterious package arrived at our doorstep. It was an intricately decorated box with a handwritten note attached. Curiosity piqued, we opened the box to find a beautifully crafted mask, adorned with jewels and feathers. The note read, "An invitation to the Masquerade of Secrets. An evening of intrigue and revelations. Your presence is requested."
