Whispers Of The Moon's Spell
As the last rune clicked into position, the protective shimmer around the box faded, and the air grew still.
“We did it,” I breathed, reaching out to take the box. It was surprisingly light, humming with a faint energy.
But just as we turned to leave, the sound of footsteps echoed through the chamber. Gabriel’s men had caught up with us.
“There they are!” Marcus Reed shouted, pointing at us with a sneer. “Get them!”
We bolted for the nearest exit, clutching the precious box. The library seemed to twist and shift around us, its enchanted traps reactivating in response to the intrusion. Arrows shot out from the walls, narrowly missing us, and flames erupted from hidden vents.
