She nodded, and the relief on her face was obvious. I studied her for a moment. Money had never been a problem in my family, thanks to my grandmother’s business skills. I could only imagine what it felt like to have debt hanging over your head, affecting your quality of life, and then suddenly having it disappear. The relief and the small smile that appeared on her face made her even prettier. “Thank you, Mr. Torrens... I mean, Albert.” I smiled. “We’re quite a pair of lunatics, aren’t we?”

I close my eyes, flinching a bit when I remember the screams and crashing sounds. FLASHBACK “She attacked me!” Anya screams through the halls, running up to her mother while I cradle the bones of my cat. Oh, Miracle. Miracle was a stray cat I had taken in after they fired Lucy. Miracle was hungry, sick and had a broken leg but I took her in. She never left me. She stayed. She never judged me and saw me as someone important. But I had just come back from trimming the flowers, only to find Anya close to the fireplace, and the smell of burnt flesh filled the air.

If she was already four years old, maybe she already ran away. “She doesn’t like the hospital,” the doctor said, jokingly. She reached out for Miracle’s head. “Her head has a normal size, can you put her here?” She pointed to the small weighing machine. “Her height balanced her weight which is good.” The check-up rolled on and went well. Miracle stopped crying when the doctor gave her the best sweet voice. She must have felt the tenderness coming from the doctor so she started to stay still or she’s just engrossed by her reflection at the mirror beside the bed she was laying in.

“If you want to know, I am allowing you to conduct your own investigation. Just make sure that you will do it discreetly. I don’t want her to notice what you are doing.” I nodded. I know that Miracle has a lot of responsibility to shoulder because of her family which is why I am sure that she is working here with something. She will not stay here without any reason. And she will not get close to Asper if she is not involved in her job here. When we got back to where the girls were, we saw that Asper was leaning on Miracle’s shoulder while sleeping peacefully. “What happened?” I asked. “Is she okay?” Miracle nodded. “She hasn’t been in this kind of event for a year so she was still adjusting,

The assassin fell twenty feet down into the cobblestone street below, his suit short-circuiting violently upon impact. "Anaya, jump!" Kabir yelled, grabbing her arm as the final hunter leveled his rifle across the ruined workshop. Mira pursed her lips before replying. “ A righteous girl who got defiled by an unknown man, just months before her wedding. ” “ Oh… ” He dropped the book before cupping her face gently. “ Are you sure you want to read this? ” The care and tenderness in his eyes filled her heart with warmth.

-Watson Residence- Hopping down the empyrean loop after peeking through several times, Miracle found herself in an unfamiliar land. As the loop vanished behind her, she took in her surroundings. The warm sensation of wild grasses, coupled with a wave of sea-scented air, greeted her. Her shoes were gone, and the layers of her silky garments had transformed into a set she had no connection with—a pink cotton T-shirt and a pair of black ripped jeans. She touched her head. Her silver chains were no longer on her too.

Neither me nor Miracle. “Time to go.” I reminded Miracle when her ears registered the familiar tone of my cellphone. She obliged. This was the worst day. I hoped it to be okay afterward.
