CRAVING THE PRIMORDIAL ELDER
When they arrived, the usual crowd of elders was gone and only Rowan, Zoran, and an elderly man in deep saffron robes remained.
The head monk was hunched over a massive, leather-bound book, his fingers tracing an ancient illustration. As Naelis entered, his sharp and intelligent eyes snapped to her neck.
"Approach, child," the monk said, his voice calm and a little bit hoarse.
Naelis stepped forward, feeling Zoran’s gaze on her. He was standing by the window, his torn robes replaced with a fresh one, but he looked unsettled. He didn't move toward her, and Naelis knew why, the memory of being blasted back by her energy was still fresh.
