All I needed right now was for him to tell Brenna something and make a spectacle in front of everyone.” “Who, me?” His eyes widened innocently, but he hurried off before I could say anything more. The limos pulled in and were guided to park along the edge of the huge circular, cobblestone driveway that blended perfectly with the castle. A fountain with a stone statue of the Moon Goddess, Selene, was in the center, the Moon behind her head. Her hands were open, and water poured from her palms. It was beautiful and added to the old-world ambiance of the castle.

It was nighttime, but the moon was so full and so big, it lit up the night almost as if it were day. Caitlin looked down and was afforded a bird’s-eye view. She had sensed water, and she had been right. She was on an island. All around her, in every direction, there stretched a huge, beautiful river, its waters very still and lit up by the moonlight. It was the widest river she had ever seen. And there, in the middle of it, was the tiny island on which she’d slept. A small island, hardly more than a few dozen acres, one end of it was dominated by a crumbling, Scottish castle, half in ruin. The rest of the island was completely consumed by a thick forest.

Looking around the room I noted the high ceiling and shot my last orb towards the ceiling hoping that it would make a big enough opening that the moon beams would slip in. Thankfully it hit just right as the ceiling began to fall in the great hall as light from the moon beamed in through it. Moving quickly towards the beam of moon light I looked up at it and siphoned every bit I could as I watched the Moon Witch stir more as the mist creature fed her life.

I asked her. “What’s what?” I stood up and moved the towel from her neck and there it was, as clear as day. A bright red triple moon emblem, just like symbol of the Moon Goddess. When Zee was unconscious after her attack, I remember seeing a pale pink crescent moon on the back of her neck. But this is different, the colour is darker and its grown. That’s not a usual birth mark. “What is it?” Zee asked, “It's uh, well, I don’t know what it is” I stuttered.

There is no sign of the sun and even if it’s morning, darkness is reigning over Moon Valley. The castle in front of me looks a little gloomy and empty. Something is different from the last time I saw it. It’s like the deadly magic of Katrina has wrapped around this place. There is a strange smell in the air. I close my eyes, taking a deep breath. The wall I keep high to block the voices of the spirits lowers in my mind ‘ She knows~ ’ A sinister voice singsongs in my mind. My eyes shoot open and land on the castle once again. Tilting my head, I continue staring at it.

The whole mansion barely had any crack on it, a sign that the enchantment the priestess had placed on it had actually worked. “Yes, my lady, though I can’t say the same for the palace,” Luyi says as she pointed behind her lady. Karilaya looked behind her and was shocked to see that several parts of the castle had fallen. Though it was still intact, the damage could be seen even in the midst of the night, as the moon seemed to be shining upon it. “Oh no,” was all Karilaya could muster, heartbroken seeing her beloved home crumbling. “My lady!” Soraya and Kirei were already moving towards her in haste.

Nothing remains here now, and what might have survived has been so worn down that I can’t even tell what they used to be. After some time, I finally spotted what the creature last night had told me to look for. The old ruins of a castle lie just ahead. What was once a drawbridge is now rotten, and there is no way I can cross it without falling into the moat below. Luckily for me, the moat is empty, though it is a little overgrown with plants and weeds now.

He paused. "In the old stories, the ones the elders tell about the Moon-touched, there's a specific manifestation. Something that only the most powerful Moon-touched could do." He stopped. "What manifestation?" He looked at her hands. Then at the sky where the light had gone.

The stone showed a carving that depicted a crescent moon symbol. "This is it," I said, my voice echoing in the dead silence. "The entrance to the Royal Archives." Dante stood beside me while he extended his heavy silver combat knife. "Are you sure about this?" I took the knife. "My mother told me stories when I was little. The real power of Moonfall exists in the hidden below the castle. The castle exists in the dark space which only the blood of the Queen can access." I took a deep breath. I pressed the sharp edge of the silver knife to the palm of my left hand and sliced.

Caitlyn’s POV The Moonborn Ruins were not what I expected. I had imagined crumbling stone walls, vines reclaiming ancient structures, a place long forgotten by time. But what lay before me was something else entirely. The ruins still stood, eerily intact, their stone foundations gleaming under the silver moonlight. The air hummed with power, charged with something ancient and restless, as if the past itself had been preserved here, waiting for someone to unravel its secrets.
