It was a marvel of engineering—a towering wall of reinforced composite alloy that had stood shut for nearly a decade. Seeing it now, with its two halves parted like a giant's wound, felt wrong. It felt like a trap waiting to be sprung. "All units, stay sharp," I said into my comms, my voice steady despite the roar of blood in my ears. "We don't know who or what opened that gate. Eventually the city lights behind them began fading as Aaron drove farther toward one of the outer secured zones beyond the main district. Natasha looked out the window curiously. “Where exactly are we going?” Aaron glanced toward her briefly. “Somewhere very important.” That only made her more curious. About twenty minutes later, the car finally slowed before enormous steel security gates surrounded by armed personnel and surveillance systems. Natasha’s brows lifted slightly. Even the security around New Haven’s council tower had not been this advanced. Aaron lowered the window slightly. The guards immediately straightened. “Good evening, sir.” Aaron nodded. And the gates slowly opened.

I raised my hand and pressed the car's intercom, connecting to the Norton residence's head of security, Brice Olsen. "Since when did the Norton residence gates become so lax that any random homeless person can just wander up and harass the motorcade? Captain Olsen, I expect a satisfactory explanation." After walking for 2 more hours in the narrow passage, they finally reached a dark hollow region that seemed like a dead-end, but it wasn't. A big black square gate with indiscernible gibberish written on it was standing tall and blocking the path. The black Gate was around 20 meters tall. It looked like an ancient craft that had been left untouched for eternity. The most eye-catching thing about the gate was that its structure was remarkably symmetrical.
