As soon as his back was turned Mark massaged his hand and caught Jasmine grinning at him. She nodded with her head and they followed the Captain down the pier. As they neared the end Mark caught sight of a boat in the water, unlike any he'd seen before.

"If this is it," the skipper's gruff voice reached his crew. "Then I'm glad it was with you. To die alone is the greatest fear of any man." The three fishermen looked at him silently. The sun-bleached face was trembling and the granite eyes had crumbled. This was man who had fought hurricanes, conquered the might of mother nature and the force of the oceans. But never had they encountered a challenge as great as this.

The cold, salty seawater engulfed me, and I knew exactly what was about to happen. I used all my strength to swim toward the surface. The moment my head broke through the water, a sharp, paralyzing pain shot through my calf, instantly robbing me of all strength. My body started sinking again. Not far away, Mason Jacobs was speeding toward the shore on a jet ski, racing against time. The pain in my leg persisted, but I held back the urge to call out for Mason.

I'm so tired in just one round " Maverick said to the rescue team men as he helped them carry an old lady on the stretcher. They have rescued the sufferers from their houses and now they have come back to the camp as it's evening and now there's no more news of any stuck sufferers.

"Thought you were dead at first. But then you coughed up half the sea and groaned something about a man named Leonidas, so I figured you might be worth saving." My heart clenched at the name. Leonidas. "How did I get here? I was in the water for—" I stopped, trying to remember. The storm. The boat. Swimming until I couldn't swim anymore. "The currents around here are tricky," the old man said, settling back into his chair. "They'll pull you out to sea or push you to shore depending on their mood. You got lucky. Another few hours in that water and even I couldn't have saved you."

Oli grumbled next to him. The old man rolled his eyes at him. He carefully listened to his heart beat. "Hmm weird, why is this so?" he whispered with his eyes wide open. "What is it? Is it too bad? Is he dying?" Oli whispered anxiously from the side. It was initially his idea to kidnap him. On impulse he took him and rushed to the boat. 'I really shouldn't have....like a coward I kidnapped his mate. Darn it where is my pride,' he scratched his head in frustration. He watched the old man wipe his sweaty forehead again. "Tell me, is he dying?"

“What are you doing?” The old man lowered his head and turned away. He shuffled back to the bar, sank onto his chair, and stroked the beast beside him. It groaned softly, then it began to purr. After a long pause, he spoke again. Again, here it was translated in clear English: “Aside from the Young Bloods, there was another man who visited me. From time to time. He worked for a shipping line—his boat often crossed near this island. Though he’s dead now, his visits always brought me news of Marigold’s children.”
