By the Sea

By the Sea

He pulled me deeper into the water and out of my thoughts. We waded out further into the water until it came up just below my breasts. Something brushed against my leg and I let out a shriek. Dom wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close. “What was that?” I asked, looking up at him, and he gave me a smile. “Maybe a shark?” “Can we go back to the shore?” “Sarah, I’m just kidding. I brushed my foot against you.” He wrapped his arms tighter around me and I pouted up at him.

Melancholy of the Sea

Melancholy of the Sea

When I was five, I was always excited whenever it was time for bed. My Grandma Momma will cook our dinner. Let me brush my teeth and comb my long hair. And after that, she will put me into bed and bedtime stories will follow. She told me a lot of fantasy stories, but my favorite was the pirate of the Lost Sea named Escarial. He was the epitome of perfection. Gentleman, handsome, a knight in shining armor to most of the ladies in their land, and most of all, he caught the heart of the brave princess, Athalia.

The Secretly Rich Man

The Secretly Rich Man

The old man sized up Gerald as he responded. “Serious injury…” Gerald felt that the old man was talking more and more boldly, so he stopped replying. “By the way, Senior. I still have one question.” Gerald wanted to smoke. When he put his hand into his pocket, he touched the sea map and said hastily. “Just ask.” The old man said coolly. “This sea map.” Gerald took out the sea map and walked toward the old man. “Previously, I saw the Yearning Island on this sea map, but it kept moving, and it only lasted less than a minute. Since then, I haven’t seen it anymore.”

It's a good book as far as I have read so far. I'm getting discouraged, though. I'm running out of patience and time for these types of stories. "Neverending" stories where some chapters repeat themselves for some reason or other drives me bunkers. Just saying. I prefer shorter stories.

FALLEN PROMISE

FALLEN PROMISE

he said, his voice weary, as he turned his attention back to the drink in his hand, trying to push away the gnawing sensation that something larger was at play. “Believe me. Wherever you found that, I’m sure someone’s keeping a mermaid there. That’s why our catches have been so poor these past few days,” Mang Omar insisted, his voice unwavering as he spoke with a kind of certainty that only the elderly seemed capable of when clinging to their beliefs. His gaze flickered from the scales back to Marlon and Emil, the weight of his words settling heavily between them. Without waiting for a response, the old man rose from his seat, his joints creaking as he stood up. He brushed the dust off his p

The Island of the Silence

The Island of the Silence

Mara stared at him. ‘Not good?’ The man didn't turn his eyes off. He stood quietly between the split wood, as if this answer was nothing unusual. “There’s an old boat,” he said after a while. “But the sea leaves out here not just go if you don’t know.” His words were simple. But Mara had something to do with it. The sea out here doesn't just let you go. It didn't sound like a metaphor. It's like experience.

What the Sea Could Not Keep

What the Sea Could Not Keep

Robert Blackwell promised to marry me, then postponed it thirty-eight times. The fifth time, a car crash broke eight of his ribs, and I signed seven critical-condition notices. The tenth time, on the way to get our marriage license, he and the car were thrown into the sea, and his suit was torn apart by sharks. By the thirty-eighth time, his heart disease had worsened and his life was hanging by a thread. Eight months pregnant, I changed flights three times and flew twenty-three hours across half the world to find him. When the door opened, a little boy who looked exactly like him lifted his face and said, "I thought Mom was back." Robert rushed out barefoot, panic written all over his

the old man murmurs. I heard Mike asked the old man about his dog and I came out from the crowd to join them. I continued cooking the fish slices and thinking about asking the old man to give me one of the puppies of his dog. “Abuelito Kiko, how old is dog Helena?” serving the old man food to eat Mike asked. “I don’t remember how old is she. That dog just came to my house accompanied me when my son died long ago. I think he died when he was about your age.” The old man said before starting to eat. Mike immediately clears his throat and felt nervousness for a moment when he heard the last sentence Abuelito Kiko said to him.

The Prince Who Was Raised in Hell

The Prince Who Was Raised in Hell

" The old man roared continuously, and his voice was full of anger, shame, and unwillingness. His mouth was filled with strong resentment. The Rancorous Qi seemed to be constantly rolling and rubbing against each other, and the sound became louder and louder. In a moment, it turned into a sea of blood, stirring up waves, and was threatening to destroy everything in the world. After roaring for a while, the old man stepped on the sea of blood, and his eyes were full of viciousness and cruelty. He stared at Caspian and said, "I am not reconciled! An ant like you must have such strength because of an adventure! I must cut your heart and open your belly today to see what kind of blood is flowing

What happened to the original writer of this book? The new writer is a far cry from the first one in terms of style, creativity, dialogue and story telling. He has turned a once very arresting story into a very boring one. It is sad.

Shading Black

Shading Black

Enormous sweat flowed all over him. “The gods won’t let you escape from my hands,” the old man yelled. The man gritted his teeth. Little drops of water hit him. It was rain, and it was falling slowly. The cold of the rainwater crushed him like the fury of heated fire. He felt weak. He was in front of the old man now, facing him and imagining the impact the machete would have done if he had not ducked. “This is your end!” the old man shouted. The man began to move rigidly. The old man was armed and was aware that he wasn’t harmed. Was it a fair fight? Why didn’t he run to Igweka-ala’s shrine?
