Still, we press on. The sun grows hotter each day, beating down upon us as we travel. The prairie offers little shade, and we do our best to rest near water when we can. The heat is merciless, drawing sweat from our backs and leaving our skin raw beneath the constant glare. The dangers of the trail may not always come in the form of wolves or men. The land itself is a force to be reckoned with. Some days run together, blurred by exhaustion and the endless stretch of road ahead, but with Unega perched beside me on a wagon we purchased at Fort Kearny, one of the last major supply stops before Wyoming, I do not mind.

Anna, her 16 year old sister slid open her door poked her head in "Anna, I.... Wait! Did you sneak into my room this morning?" Anna blinked in feigned innocence "Well.... Come down for breakfast!" and ran off "Ugh! Anna!" Eleanor ran for the bathroom. She was gonna be late! Her flight was by 12:00pm. She had been staying at her family's house for three days already because her place was further from the airport. Sweet fudge, she couldn't miss her flight! She quickly brushed her teeth and ran in for a bath. While she bathed, she couldn't help but think about the dream she'd had earlier. The same dream, over and over again, for three days straight. At survival lessons, we were once told about herbs that interrupt the smell of a wolf, but they promised to tell us in more detail after initiation. It's a shame, of course, but that's not what matters. If there is a way to cover the smell of the beast, then there must be a way to do the same with all smells. But how? Rather, what? What can cover the smell of the forest, in which I will stay for at least an hour? And most importantly, that Igor and Oleg do not sniff out anything superfluous?

A shiver raced down my spine. I wasn’t supposed to be out here, far from our pack neighborhood in Oxbow, Oregon. This area marked the state line between Idaho and Oregon, where someone in our pack could easily trespass onto Idaho land and cause problems with the neighboring royal adviser. There was no telling who these wolves were.

I squeaked. My future was with them, Anna and Andy, Beth and Jack, Duke and Em, Ronny and Livy. It was with Edward Collin, my best friend, my boyfriend. Life is like a long journey to a beautiful destination. You have to choose the people to bring along and who to leave behind. The roads are often bumpy and you may turn to the wrong path. But it’s okay. Its experience. You’ll eventually find your way back to the right track. This is my life’s journey and I have chosen the people I want to tag along with me. I found loyalty, friendship, trust and honor, I found love. I found a family. This is my odyssey!
