“We need to establish rules.” My stomach tightened. “Rules?” I echoed. “For your survival.” His tone was flat, but something unreadable flickered beneath it. “This pack is not kind to weakness. They respect strength, obedience, and clarity.” “I’m not trying to challenge anyone,” I said quickly. “I’ll stay out of the way. I always do.” That was a mistake. Kael’s jaw tightened. “You will not.” I frowned. “What?” “You are my mate,” he said sharply. “There is no ‘out of the way.’ Your existence alone makes you visible.”

Everyone had a job, either In the city or at home , and some had businesses, including Aiden. Sexual activities varied in different packs, depending on the alphas. Some packs were hypocrites. They allowed their males to screw around, but put restrictions on females. Sex was far from a taboo with this pack. The reason they lived was to fuck , was the impression I got. No one cared who was fucking about with whom, until they find their mates. Mates never cheat, they just couldn't because the partner would definitely know, and it would hurt them. PARKER ‘Did you get him?’ Ryder asked in our mindlink. ‘He is dead.’ I answer, and he doesn’t reply, he doesn’t need to. A small group of stupid rouges tried to sneak in to steal from our pack. And the only one we let live was the one we could smell having a mate or family. It was a personal rule between us, we did not kill someone with a mate or family, unless we really had to. We both knew how the loss of a mate feels.

The room was already freezing because of the air conditioning, but these men were making the temperature drop even lower. “Pack laws involve mates,” Alpha Steele said with a straight face, trying to keep his voice steady and show his authority. “Pack laws that state that a rejection may either be accepted or rejected,” Robert countered, still looking calm. “It mentions nothing about the mate bond being forced on any individual. Or did I miss something?” He glanced at my mother. Silence fell over the room again, and I could feel the cold seep into my bones. My heartbeat echoed in my ears, drowning out everything else.

"My uncle wants me to stay here permanently. But I don't know if I could handle your guy's... rules." I grinned. The alpha of this pack cannot refuse his mate or he will be stripped of his title, and you will die" He grumpily stressed. I knew the pack rules and even knew I could die, but what could I do at that point? My only option was to come here and defend Lucas. On the other hand, it was obvious that Bennet and I had never gotten along.

He was about to leave when he said, “Wolves have no choice but to feel the matebond. There are no laws that say anything must be done about it.” Fancy way of saying that he would not mate with me. It did not matter anyway because I did not care. I was done with men for three lifetimes. “Are there any rules you need me to follow?” I asked. “You are a guest under my protection because of your brothers. You are not a member of my pack so you will eat meals, not step out of your bounds and not interfere with pack business in any manner.” “And if I happen to disobey any of your rules?”

Sure it's gross but who hasn't let one slide in public before,but this isn't the only stupid rule on the list. It's easier to say what you can do than what you can't. Breaking it down , all I can do is breathe (quietly), eat (no large meals for females, we have to maintain our figures) and sleep (alone until your mate claims you). No speaking out of turn and no arguing with any males in pack. Basically I have to be submissive to any and all males in the pack no matter the rank, oh it doesn't stop there either. Since I'm not a "real" pack member I'm at the bottom of the pecking order and EVERY female here can order me around too no matter their job description.

"I have made my decision and no one can stop it. And if the elders ever feel like I can't have two mates, then they can as well get me one themselves because I will certainly never get back to hunting for a mate."
