The shock I had felt then was still just as raw as now. Yet from then till now, no matter how much I tried, I just couldn't add on weight, and the drastic lack of nutrients impacted my healing, reducing it to half its speed. Yet, somehow, deep within I was grateful that I wasn't healing as fast as usual, because the pain was a welcome friend. It was distracting, and it was proof, physical proof that I was still alive, and maybe, just maybe I had gone over the deep end just yet. Because a part of me firmly believes that pain was proof of sanity.
